INNSiDE by Meliá Frankfurt Ostend

Entrance Foyer & Reception clean & neat, Room and Bathroom were a good size and overall was very comfortable and clean with air conditioning and electronically controlled blinds. Toilet was separate - excellent :). Restaurant staff were extremely helpful, Breakfast Buffet was good, all meals from the main menu's were excellent. Laundry service was good, and returned on time. Coffee pod machine, jug, tea, coffee, milk were provided, and a small bar fridge with drinks & water.

The shower is a "modular shower cubical" with a lovely "shiny" floor pan, which became dangerously slippery when wet which I discovered when I turned the shower on. I decided to carefully exit & put a hand towel on the floor of the shower to stand on, I took one small step towards the door, my foot went out from under me, and I fell sideways on the floor, hitting my head on the wall. I had a Large lump on elbow, a bruised wrist and bruise on my head. I reported the incident to reception, who's response was "we'll tell housekeeping". No question if I would like to have medical attention, nothing. The tea/Coffee area is small and painted Black. The Black coffee machine, Black Jug and Black coffee, tea, sugar tray were in separate small black shelf areas. NO Lighting...... at 5.00am in the morning, VERY DIFFICULT to see what one is doing in the dark as all the lighting is over the bed & in the lounge area.

The place where I got breakfast on the hotel was infected with flies…all sizes, specially on the first day…

Good airco - stayed here to escape the heat wave! Friendly staff, nice smelling shower gels, clean, nicely above a Rewe for any last minute shopping needs. Would stay again.

The room was fine.

A kettle in your bedroom to make tea or coffee would be preferable to a couple of fizzy drinks in a fridge, particularly in cooler weather. The service in the restaurant/kitchen is poor. I chose a half board option when reserving. I did not expect to be treated like a second class citizen in the restaurant at dinner. My experience was so unpleasant I didn't eat in the hotel on the 3rd night, I went elsewhere and paid again. I requested a plain pasta dish for dinner on night 2 as I was running the marathon on the Sunday. Unfortunately the kitchen was unable to provide this to a restaurant that was practically empty. I wonder why? It cost me €4 for a tiny bottle (200ml) of plain water, not refrigerated with no ice or lemon! I requested a slightly earlier breakfast on the Sunday morning 15/20 mins earlier for some plain, uncooked food. The hotel could not provide this. I counted 50 people, all marathon runners in the restaurant at 7.30am when it opened. All these people would have appreciated earlier breakfast. This hotel does NOT do customer service well. Food service is exceptionally slowand if you chose the half board option, expect the minimum.
