The reception is a bit hidden, but major friendly staff. The property is beautiful, clean and the location is perfect. Only down side was that the bathroom needs an extractor fan, it was very damp after a shower.

Relaxing

We had an amazing, relaxing stay at Port Owen Marina. The chalet was huge and spacious. The bonus was not having to drive out much as everything was in walking distance, from the restaurant, bar, gin tasting, and a convenient store.

Child friendly/family oriented

We have been travelling around the Western Cape and this was by far our best stay! This was exactly what we always look for in a property as we have a toddler and need certain conveniences. It ticked all the boxes: space; well equipped kitchen; washing machine; bath tub; daily servicing and our little girl was kept entertained by the pool and play area. Staff were incredibly friendly and always helpful, checking if we needed fresh towels or toilet paper regularly. The restaurant across the street was a nice option and served tasty food. Nothing beat the morning sunrise view, and waking up to the sea breeze, having a coffee on the veranda and watching the birds fly by. Friends and family came to visit for the day from CT and we had a braai; the outside area is great for relaxing and entertaining. My personal favourite: cleanliness! We travel a lot and this was one of the few places that actually had clean carpets (and carpet refresh) on arrival and a surfaces were wiped down thoroughly.

1. Water pressure was very low which didn’t always make showering easy. 2. Reception only opened at 8am for paddle boat and kayak rentals, however, it’s so hot in Summer and the sun already baking your skin by 9am. It would be great if they had options to access these from 6am, especially for early risers and those wanting to beat the heat.

Pleased except for the wind

The accommodation was exceptionally clean and I really appreciate that!

I think there should be more to do, for instance a water park will be great as well as an indoor heated pool. The wind was extremely blowing for the whole duration of our stay, therefore it would have been nice to have an indoor pool at least.

Disappointing

The rocketry pool and the gorgeous animals, that's about it!

I booked 3 chalets and we were supposed to check in at 3pm. One of our chalets was only ready just before 5 and we ended up cleaning each chalet because it was disgustingly dirty. They removed a mat from unit 12 and never returned it for the duration of our stay which made the lounge area cold compared to the other chalets. The place has mats and the father knows the carpets are extremely dusty we frequently visited the spar pharmacy. We requested towel changes and only received replacements the next day so we couldn't have a shower that night because we knew the resort offered body linen. Chalet 12's glassware was removed to be washed and only brought back the next day making us short to pack and store our foods. Unit 11 didn't even have a plug for washing up purposes so we had go borrow from the other 2 chalets all the time. The toilet in unit 12 had faecal spots on the toilet lid we had to rush to get some jik and handy handy, quite evident that people had just booked out because that unit was the filthiest! I've visited Port Owen back in 2014 and 2015 and never have I experienced such untidiness. This was our first family vacation and I promised my family that they'd love it, we left there disappointed with a promise never to return.

We stayed there for a week and had a superb time. The local community is very friendly.

The Private Jetty for our boat was a very big highlight for me. Unit1 is nice big and comfortable. It was clean and Braai facilities were cleaned every morning. Plenty of bird life around and good view over the marina.

Didn't like the shower door it was not functioning properly and wets the floor. The DSTV and TV is outdated.
