Palio Litochoro The Countryside Lodge

It is a lovely hotel in a beautiful location. The hosts are super friendly and helpful and happy to show you where the best walks and hikes are around Mount Olympus. They have a great breakfast, with home made cakes and everything you need for a buffet breakfast

We are both over 70 and although fairly fit we found the uphill walk from town at the end of the day a bit too much a couple of times and had to take a taxi. We were there at the end of the season and taxi drivers are not always around. If you get a good one take his number so you can ring him when you need a taxi. We arrived by train and the train station is like an abandoned building - no one there and no taxis waiting. The station is approx 6 to 7km outside town. We rang the telephone numbers for taxis at the station, only to be told we'd have an hours wait. I rang the hotel and they very kindly contacted a taxi driver who picked us up within 15 minutes. Thank you Sakis
