The house was impeccably clean and well stocked with everything we needed for a wonderful stay. I meant to bring my own crockpot for one of our meals, but it slipped my mind in the rush to leave home. Thankfully, there was one there for me to use.

What a beautiful property! We gathered to celebrate the wedding of my son. Although the couple decided to have their ceremony elsewhere, we hosted a dinner celebration of the couple. We were surprised by how well stocked with gadgets the kitchen was, making preparations so easy. There were plenty of places for people to enjoy meal and conversation that felt intimate. By day, the creek was a popular place to hike and soak while at night, it lulled us to sleep. The resource book the host provides was well organized with a table of contents and answered every question we had. I especially appreciated the hiking trail descriptions that are on site. I highly recommend this cozy getwlaway.

This is my fifth time bringing students to write creatively in the mountains of North Carolina. This year Helene put a new perspective on the power of nature and the devastation which still remains. 18 students from Spartanburg Day School created and wrote about memories made and putting the beauty of nature in its proper perspective. Diamond Shoals Preserve once again was the perfect stay. The challenges of nature continue to make it more beautiful.

It didn't take much time after our arrival to realize that we'd stumbled on one of the best VRBOs in Western North Carolina. The photos don't even do the property justice. Our group has been lucky to enjoy many wonderful vacation spots over the years and decided that Diamond Falls is easily near the top of the list.We took advantage of every aspect of this exceptional property. The kids ages (ages 4-9) had amazing time exploring the swimming hole and traversing the creek every day, while the parents kept a watchful eye from the adirondack chairs nearby. The heated spa overlooking the falls was also popular with kids and adults morning and night. The exterior illumination along the creek created a truly special vantage point to have a few drinks after dark. I haven't found a more relaxing way to spend a vacation! I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed the water during our stay, both actively and passively. We also spent some time fishing in the trout pond and hiking the trails. The owners are clearly hiking enthusiasts and have made a considerable effort to curate some beautiful trails around the property. Be sure to take the Edney Inn Trail to Perry's Pass to find the waterfall. It was a bit dodgy for little kids so the dads made the trek on our own and were rewarded with a little oasis in the woods. Definitely worth the effort. We did a day trip to Chimney Rock (luckily decided to go in the morning before the crowds) to take advantage of the dramatic vistas of Lake Lure and surrounding mountains, then stopped by Hickory Nut Brewing Company nearby to enjoy pub food and beers by the Broad River. We also took a quick trip to Grandad's Apple Orchard for apple and peach picking, which was a big hit with the kids. I don't think I've ever seen a more organized, thorough and useful house guide provided by the property manager - who by the way was super responsive and helpful before and during our stay (Thanks Heidi!) The house itself was exceptionally stocked with kitchen tools and supplies, as well as games and puzzles. The beds were quite comfortable and everything in the house seemed to be relatively new. The WIFI signal wasn't great, but we were looking for a retreat and it encouraged everyone to stay off their phones/tablets. The Green Egg on the patio overlooking the creek made for a glorious grilling and smoking experience - I was really glad I brought seasoning to do a pork butt and steaks. Overall 10/10, will come back!
