La Borie en Provence

La Borie was more than we ever imagined. It transformed our first visit to Provence into something that felt less like a vacation and more like a fairy tale—more enchanting than even Peter Mayle's beloved books about Provence. The location was ideal, just a pleasant stroll from the hilltop village of Gordes, yet peaceful enough to feel like a world of its own. Our room and bathroom reflected remarkable craftsmanship, with beautiful materials and thoughtful attention to every detail. The morning's breakfast was a delight, featuring fresh, delicious offerings that invited us to linger. The swimming pool, overlooking the magnificent Luberon Valley, was the perfect finishing touch—a place where time seemed to slow and the beauty of Provence unfolded before us. Above all, what made La Borie truly unforgettable was the warm hospitality of our gracious hostess, who welcomed us as though we were old friends. Her kindness set the tone for our entire stay. Her sweet dog added another touch of charm, always nearby with a gentle presence that made La Borie feel even more like a home than a hotel. Our stay at La Borie wasn't simply a place to sleep—it became one of the cherished memories of our journey through Provence.

Great location, just a short walk into the center of Gordes. Beautiful property and pool, which we enjoyed using as July temps were over 40C. The large bed was very comfortable and the room was nicely appointed with air conditioning that worked very well. Breakfast was delicious and could be enjoyed inside or out; continental with fresh bread and croissants, wonderful selection of cheeses, fresh squeezed orange juice, fruit, cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs etc.; Nespresso coffee machine with many different choices of coffee. We also enjoyed Ziggy the dog and Leo the cat. Host and staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!

Others have mentioned that the steps are not illuminated at night. It helps to have a small flashlight.

Lovely property and building. Pool was clean and very beautiful. Lovely pets too! I was able to check in early which was appreciated.

The stay was a little disappointing. Strange things - like a coffee machine and a kettle but without anywhere to plug it in so you have to make coffee on the ground. Water and coffee pods not replenished during the clean. Staff not very friendly. Lots of areas looking unloved and untidy. A very strange vibe about the place - you felt unwelcome. Seemed expensive for what you got. It’s a shame as I had high hopes. I think a bit of enthusiasm for good customer service from the owner and staff could make a huge difference.
