Lovely old garden, park-like museum. The house contains a lot of antiques, much cooler even than in the museum. Very nice and quiet place with a green garden and lots of plants. Big parking, fresh air!

There were mosquitoes in the room, but it's summer outside :) you need to keep this in mind

The historic atmosphere of the house and grounds was delightful. Breakfast was a cold continental buffet with ham, cheese, fresh croissants and other breads, cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurts, jams, cakes and very good freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee. Presented at the time we requested and perfect for our needs. The grounds were magnificent, 140 acres of gardens, woods, river valley and cultivated areas for fruit vegetables and a large area given aside to blueberries. A beautiful swimming pool with diving board and sun loungers was also provided. Eduardo, the owner and his wife were very helpful, as was Antonio the manager. All in all, outstanding, and we had it all to ourselves.

There was nothing at the quinta that we didn't like but one thing is worthy of note, and that is that it is necessary to drive out a few miles each evening for dinner. We found Pedregal, about 2 miles away very good and Tomas, on the bank of the Duoro very acceptable. if prepared to drive to Gaia there is a wealth of good restaurants.
