I stayed at The Lobster Pot Inn for two nights in two different room types. This review is specifically for the King Room on my second night. Although it was smaller than the family room I stayed in the night before, it was still comfortable and perfectly adequate for a short stay. The Lobster Pot Inn is an ideal base for anyone planning to visit Skomer Island to see the puffins. Unfortunately, my boat trip was cancelled due to bad weather. Even so, I don't feel the journey was wasted because Marloes itself is well worth exploring. I visited Marloes Sands, and its spectacular scenery made the trip worthwhile. One of the highlights of my stay was the friendliness of the staff. During breakfast, I had a pleasant conversation with one of the staff members. He encouraged me to visit the Skomer Island booking centre, explaining that there might still be a chance of getting on a later boat. Unfortunately, I had already planned the rest of my itinerary and couldn't stay any longer, so I had to give up the idea. Even though I didn't make it to the island, I'm grateful for his suggestion. It reminded me that many things in the UK are more flexible than I had expected. That lesson actually helped me later in my trip when planning other activities. I definitely hope to return to Marloes one day and finally make it to Skomer Island. When I do, The Lobster Pot Inn will undoubtedly be my first choice for accommodation. Highly recommended!

I stayed at this pub hotel for two nights, but in two different rooms. On the first night, I stayed in a family room, while on the second night, I stayed in a double room. Since it was puffin season, the hotel was in high demand and difficult to book. Unfortunately, due to bad weather, I wasn't able to land on Skomer Island to see the puffins. However, I would still highly recommend this hotel. It is conveniently located near the departure point for boats to Skomer Island, making it an excellent base for birdwatching. The family room on the first night was spacious and comfortable. Although the furnishings were fairly simple, the room had everything I needed. The food at the pub was also very good. Breakfast was generous, offering bread, cheese, and cooked hot dishes. I also had dinner here during my stay. On the first evening, I ordered the fish pie, which was delicious. On the second evening, I tried the Thai fried rice. I can't say whether it was authentic, but it tasted great. If you're visiting the area for birdwatching, especially to see puffins, I highly recommend The Lobster Pot.

The location was very handy for our trip to Skomer Island to see the Puffins. The breakfast was nice, served by a friendly couple that cooked us eggs on toast. We chatted about our impending trip to Skomer Island that morning and they gave us a few hints and tips. I must admit that we didn't fancy chancing the sausages and bacon based on some pretty poor food reviews.
The room was very basic and outdated, as was the hotel. The carpet leading up the stairs to the rooms was absolutely filthy. The whole place felt 'unclean'. It certainly didn't have a fresh, welcoming feel about it. The TV in our room was tiny but we needn't have worried as it didn't work! The bed linen and the towels were clean and fresh, however the mattress was very spongy and had no support. For the price we paid I must admit I was expecting somewhere a bit more modern and certainly cleaner. The tables in the breakfast room were sticky. The floor was sticky and the smell of old cooking fat was unpleasant. We chose not to eat in the Lobster Pot in the evening purely based on some bad online reviews.
