SINGAI CABIN - Onomichi

Self check-in was easy to follow and the property contacted me with instructions ahead of our stay. We stayed in a private room with private full bathroom and the decor was exceptional and the bathroom clean and tidy. They provided these amazing gauze pyjamas in traditional Japanese work-wear style to wear and I wish they were able to sell us a pair they are so comfy and chic. There are lots of good restaurants and bars nearby and it was easy to reach the property using a local bus from the Onomichi station.

Clean and warm. I was completely alone on my stay, thanks for the trust! It’s was on the 24th of December.

It’s kind of far away from the trains station or the Shimanami Kaido beginning or renting the bike or the temples.

I booked the slightly more expense dorm and ended up being the only person staying there. So u had a room with 4 bunks all to myself for the night which was really nice. The beds are really well designed and private even if there were people. The little nook underneath was good for storing everything and chilling out. I was a little tired so I would call it a positive that the bar under the dorms didn’t open while I stayed there.

I didn’t see and staff while I was there. Unsure if that’s good or bad. But I always find it welcoming to hey the run down of the facilities by a person instead of an iPad. Half of the bathrooms and showers were listed as staff only, it wasn’t busy enough for that to be a concern. But I imagine in the more busy seasons this might be an issue as there is essentially one shower and toilet per level shared between like probably 10+ beds. I imagine if it was full it would probably feel a little cramped. Also the location is fine and it’s far enough that you only notice it occasionally and it wasn’t a huge problem for me at all but you can hear trains throughout the night so light sleepers may have concerns

Located within walking distance of Onomichi station, a couple of convenience stores and lots of great restaurants. Self check-in was straightforward too.

Soundproofing is subpar - not ideal for light sleepers as the noise from the street below and trains passing by can be heard every night (though earplugs were provided). Insulation can be done better as well - the room was super frigid despite having raised the heating temperature to 29 degrees.
