Amarta Beach Retreat is a very nice and calm place. Like time has stopped. Loved the green complex, pools and always smiling staff.
Instead of one double bed, there are two single beds pushed together. You are not allowed to swim in the sea, just be prepared for it. The restaurant is quite expensive and does not offer anything special or extremely good.

Staff were amazing, room was very private and comfortable and the location was quiet. My wife LOVED the spa facilities and especially Ayu.
There were renovations going on, however Amarta upgraded us which more than compensated for the inconvenience.

The location is out of this world. Very green, lush and with private beach. All staff were just so great that we felt like being treated by family. To name a few Mr. Gede (the F&B manager) is a gem. He made sure we were taken care or to the smallest detail. A true professional yet so homely at the same time. Also the General Manager Mr. Made made sure he talked to each guest atleast once every single day - something which is rare these days.
Also, Ms. Setia, Ms. Wina, Ms. Tia, Ms. Indra (from spa), Mr. Putu (supervisor), Mr. Dewa(housekeeping) and Mr. Zafan, deserves special mention for their extremely professional and warm hospitality. They truly are assets to Amarta.
We had a small discomfort at our Villa and the management was more than happy to listen to us and do the needful at all times to make us feel comforted thereafter.
Bed and Pillows are so comfy.
The property was so good that we cancelled our next booking at another property and ended up staying in Amarta for seven nights instead of our original plan of three nights.
Thank you very much Team Amarta for giving us a lifetime of memories.
The only restaurant in the property has a limited menu (though the chef tried to accommodate our special requests as far as he could). But if you are staying for more than 2-3 nights, the limited options for all three meals becomes monotonous.
The garden and walkways could use more lights to make it safe during darker hours.
The three bedroom villa we stayed could use a bit more of regular maintenance. The staff should check the lights, TV, microwave etc is in working condition before arrival of guests every time (though they were happy to assist when notified).
The private pool was of good size, but no fixes cleaning schedule unless requested. It clearly requires daily cleaning due to insects etc. falling into the water throughout the day.
The plants, bushes etc in the private garden and the public walkway requires regular maintenance as well to ensure continued safety during darker hours.
Garbage bin inside the villa not cleared by the cleaning staff daily, unless notified. As the kitchen being open to the garden area, even a small bit of food particle invited 100s of ants to the garbage bin, which made it unsafe for smaller kids.
Less options for entertainment within the property, though the restaurant had some board games etc.
These are just honest suggestions to improve and definitely not complaints or show stoppers. Will not affect our decision whether to stay there agin or not !

Loved the staff, the swimming pool facilities and the spa experience.
Needed more vegetarian options in the menu

Amazing place, beautiful grounds,staff,food.. away from the crowds
Don’t go there for the beach as its quite littered and not safe to swim at.. in saying that the sounds of the ocean provide a nice ambiance.

The breakfast was great 👍 👌
The beach needs to be cleaned up
I understand that is a difficult situation
But if the beach was cleaner the stay would be better

The setting is fantastic, just overlooking the beach. It feels very tropical and we loved walking on the never ending stretch of beach. We booked the 3 bedroom villa, it's not overlooking the beach but more of a construction area as the moment.
The restaurant quality was really poor and expensive for what it was. The Indonesian food was terribly dry (adding a sauce would really help), and pretty much everything on the menu too. The French toast for breakfast were obviously cooked in the same pan as something very garlicky and savory, basic mistakes, but takes the rating down a lot, especially as these prices. But as they are the only restaurant in a radius of 15 minutes, I guess they probably don't care much about making the best possible food. After a disappointing lunch as the hotel, we had dinner at Sawah restaurant at Alami Villas, and the food was much better, and lunch the next day at Joshua district about 20 min drive by scooter (excellent food, overlooking the rice fields)
Also, the ocean is not swimmable, keep in mind if you come to swim (only the pool then).
And also not much to do around, so it's really a resort where you mostly stay in the hotel, or need a scooter to wander around and explore (like we did).

The secluded location, the possibility of walking to the nearby village, on-site meals at an affordable price and an excellent massage are the great advantages of the hotel, making the stay really great. Breakfasts were good, but the selection was often limited (some menu items were unavailable). The wonderful and smiling staff made up for these shortcomings.
Unfortunately, throughout our stay, we experienced noise, related to the expansion of the building, from the early morning hours, even on Saturday and Sunday . There was a lack of privacy – workers were peeking into the bathroom of one of the rooms, which was directly adjacent to the building site. This was a major drawback for someone looking for a quiet place to relax. The hotel manager failed to respond to our concerns.

Beautiful beachfront location, very nice garden and pools. Very tasty Indonesian food in the restaurant.
The room was not in a good condition - I could barely open and close the door, blinds very missing parts. Also there were no wines available at all even though they had wine list in the restaurant. We talked to very kind brand new manager Suk who apologized. So maybe better selection for future guests.

This is a wonderful place with a true sense of space and silence.
Very peaceful, secluded and comfortable.
The rooms are beautiful, and the food is excellent — especially considering how remote the location is.
A perfect spot for rest and reconnection with yourself.
I understand the beach is public, but it would be great if the hotel could clean the area directly in front of the property in the mornings. That small effort would make a big difference.
Also, it felt a bit strange that water was charged in the restaurant, while complimentary bottled water is provided in the room. It would be a nice gesture to offer drinking water for hotel guests during meals as well.

Beautiful location and fantastic resort
Difficult to get to. access road in is narrow with very dangerous drop offs( almost ended up upside down in a rice field). Restaurant food quality was poor: sirloin was too tough to cut and pasta Alfredo dried out

This resort is so picturesque with its immaculate tropical grounds and intimate vibe. It reminded me of Hawaii. It’s great for sunsets (if the weather permits).
It’s secluded, which is what I wanted after Ubud. The hot water bath tub was so nice.
The staff is kind and helpful. Great service. Because the hotel doesn’t offer my style of wine, I was pleased to have Grab deliver the wine I enjoy from far away as there’s nothing nearby. I loved sitting in front of the ocean listening to the waves, as well as the serene and peaceful evenings on my deck. The restaurant faces the ocean and has a decent menu selection. Not that you need to bring anything here. I just enjoy having specific drinks/snacks on hand, and had my driver stop at a grocery store on my way in. So having a fridge in my room was perfect, as I didn’t have to order room service every time.
Construction construction construction! This is not posted anywhere on Amarta’s booking.com listing or website. I booked this resort because, I wanted peace and quiet after 5 (construction-traumatized) weeks in Ubud. When I arrived, I was taken to a villa in front of the actual construction area. I immediately had them move me. They did gladly, but unfortunately I was still woken up every morning around 8 am to either staff talking loudly and some type of generator and annoying hammering. The room I was moved to is right next to the reception area and the spa and because of the thin walls the outside goings-on were distracting. The blinds in my room had gaps in them and would not open or close all the way. You could see in my room at night, and if your a light sleeper like me the room is bright as the sun comes up. There was a strong odor coming from the toilet. Luckily, I brought incense. I feel like the noise and these minor things took away from this hotel feeling like a 5 star resort because it’s a lovely place and is very soothing and relaxing by the pools. Book a villa closer to the ocean. I would suggest to the management to have the staff refrain from yelling or speaking loudly near and around the villas themselves. Especially in the early hours. The spa could have been a little more luxurious for this type of resort. It’s just a few rooms. My hope is that they are building a spa with all this construction cause I’d love to come back when there’s no projects going on. Lastly, I had a massage and it left me bed ridden for a few days, as my back went out…making it painful to walk. Because of this, I shortened my stay in bali and returned to the US. Thankfully, the manager did credit me for the massage.

The resort is absolutely beautiful.
I wish they offered local typical dances or something else to do. The resort is very far from everywhere else in the island so you are pretty much contained to what you can do there.

Brilliant, quiet and relaxing location. Our expectations for Bali were already high and the hotel managed to surpass them. It's a gem of a hotel, tucked away in a less hectic part of the island. If you're looking for a few superbly relaxing days near the beach, away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud or Cangu, look no further.

The facility and its staff were awesome. Heavy rains entered our room one night; and flooded up to the bed. (this was not the fault of the facility).
Food at Lily by the Sea was good (some choices were bland) but staff was great. Mie Goreng (free breakfast) was our favorite. The green mango and papaya/prawn salad was delicious!
The actual location of the resort was far from any tourist areas. It takes 2 hours from airport to get to location. At night, the road is narrow and dark.

The view from the hotel overlooking the coast is beautiful. The hotel itself is well-maintained, with a pleasant and well-kept territory.
- Food Quality: The hotel positions itself as a retreat, but the restaurant lacks healthy food options. The food quality is below average. Bakery is also much worse than in Canggu. We stayed only two nights and eat 3-4 times in hotel. On checkout day we felt bad. We went to hospital and find out that my wife fell ill with viral gastroenteritis decease. It took 1 week for us to recover after staying at this Retreat Hotel.
- Yoga Classes: The yoga offered was power yoga, not appropriate for a retreat setting. It felt more like a fitness class, and the instructor was out of touch with the group's needs.
- Bad expectation management: The hotel did not provide prior information about spa services or yoga classes. Everything needed to be booked a day in advance (and they didn’t communicate this proactively to us), which is inconvenient for short stays.
- Jacuzzi Issues: The Jacuzzi in our room took two to three hours to fill and was lukewarm by the time it was ready. Flowers shown in pictures must be ordered a day in advance, which we were not informed about.
- Nighttime Lighting: The hotel's grounds, restaurant, and pool were poorly lit at night, making it difficult to enjoy the area after dark (basically after 19:00)
- Customer Service: When we asked for the manager's contact to provide feedback, we were said that manager is on vacation and we can leave public review. I said that we want only the best for their hotel and would prefer to make it private. Guy on reception gave a feedback form that didn’t allow detailed comments. I provided my WhatsApp number and asked manager to call me. It was on Sunday, 6 days ago. Today is Saturday, no one contacted me despite my sincere readiness to help. So, I have no option left and shared my thoughts about this hotel publicly.
Overall, we will definitely not be coming back to this hotel.

This place is a paradise, away from traffic and mass tourism of Bali. It's a bit difficult to reach, so better have a car to move around. But then you are in front of the ocean and infinite beach of black sand with most beautiful sunsets. Just perfect for a peaceful stay. We were happy with massages at the local SPA, very adequately priced. They only have one restaurant, but the choice is wide and prices are reasonable. We have just gotten back, but looking forward to returning next year. Loved the place. We went on a buggy tour with a guide (bookable at reception), and it was beautiful to see local life and rice fields.

Pool was refreshing and great views overlooking the beach. We ate at Lilly's for breakfast lunch and dinner and each time the food was amazing with so much selection so we tired all the different items and the cooking and presentation were fantastic. The service from the staff in the restaurant was very efficient and friendly. Loved our villa for the space cleaniness and the view was amazing.

The location of this resort is excellent, and the property is well-manicured. Our room was quite nicely sized and while we didn't get to enjoy the jacuzzi, I am sure it would have been a great experience. We both utilized the spa for massages and were very happy with the service provided. We would definitely consider another stay at this property in the future.
While the property was quite nicely kept, the beach was littered with trash and rotting fruit. All that trash really spoiled the view. We also saw cockroaches and tomcat insects in the room. While sitting at the restaurant, I saw a rat climbing in the rafter above the bakery. lastly, there were guests with dogs staying on the property and I just missed stepping in a pile of poop on the lawn near our room.

We stayed two nights and enjoyed the peace and quiet at this hotel. There are two infinity pools with a stunning view of the ocean.
The selection of food at the restaurant was a bit limited. There aren’t any other restaurants nearby outside the hotel.

My girlfriend and I booked the Ocean Suite with Jacuzzi for a 2-night stay. The view was nice, with a superb black sand Pasut Beach.
We were quite disappointed by the service. The jacuzzi did not really work and failed to meet our expectations - the nozzles were way too weak. The drainage of the jacuzzi was also problematic. Do prepare for the occasional lack of hot shower. When we told the manager about these problems, she did not seem to care about it. The Resort was located somewhere really far from the city centre and there were lack of facilities except the one and only one slightly overpriced restaurant and a spa. The transportation offered by the Resort was also more expensive than the general price. Yes the Beach was awesome but you can access to it by going for other villas or resorts which offer better service.

Full english breakfast is perfect. Jaccuzi and pool is great. Bathroom is large. Hot water is working. Bamboo mat on the floor helps to avoid slip on the wet floor. We love the smell of hand wash.
The hotel complex is great, view is superb.

to start with the villas are beautiful and spacious, the best there is the bathroom! the garden is amazing and the view form the 2 pools is breathtaking. the staff is extremely nice and helpful, the food in the restaurant is really good. the breakfast: omg a lot to choose from, they prepare even vegan versions, and on top of all the portions and variety is top top. spa is also great, the best treatment I had on the island. all was amazing value for money
the yoga classes are available only on Saturday

I liked the pools at the beach and our Bungalow
It is really hard to rate this as we stayed for 4 nights. Our A/C was broken, and they kept filling it with gas, which made me really uncomfortable to sleep at night, knowing there is a gas leak. The manager did not provide any alternatives, just a "sorry." For a 4 star, you would hope for a little bit more of customer service.
We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner at their restaurant in those 4 days, and we were pretty happy, but the checkout day, something was wrong with the breakfast. Ants appeared on my plate. I thought to myself that does happen, but the spinach seemed weird. I didn't want to say anything and kept eating. BIG Mistake. We stayed till 5 pm till taxi came to drop us off to the airport and the nightmare started. The driver had to pull over several times as I vomited. After check-in, I kept vomiting, and I was not able to fly and rushed to the hospital. We missed our flight. We were in enormous stress just because the kitchen gave me old food on our departure day. It was so sad as the other 3 days were amazing. Even the provided juice was then added with heaps of water.
I was actually planning to go back, but now I have second thoughts 😪

Modern private villa with pool, comfortable bed, good bathroom products. Resort has nice beachfront restaurant and large jacuzzi nice at sunset. Beautiful sunsets. Lovely spa, Indonesian ritual package recommended. Nice friendly helpful staff.
Villa only has part ocean view. No Information package in the villa. There is no menu. Staff didn't give us wifi pw or explain lighting or how to lock gate, needs a password for a padlock. We had to make a lot of phone calls to get all the information. Kitchen not fully equipped, old dirty dishwasher cloth. The villa expensive, so we thought they could have provided a new cloth. Also No tea towels to dry dishes if needed. Noisy air con in master bedroom. Many sand flies that bite, you need bug spray. Resort does provide if ask. Many ants around living area pool and area.
