We loved the location in Castelsardo but the house is a little difficult to find. The owner met us at a car park and we realised why. We would never have found it on our own!
The villa is very near the sea and is a collection of 6 buildings I think, and not stand-alone. We had the bottom half which consisted of a large balcony with a marvellous view and a donkey nearby, three (3) bedrooms, two bathrooms, a washing machine and a large living room and fully-equipped American-style dining room / kitchen, complete with dishwasher!
The master bedroom led onto the terrace which had an outdoor built-in BBQ and bench-like tables and chairs. Two of the bedrooms had doors that separated the hallway and could be locked if travelling with another family or for privacy.
The kitchen had lots of really nice crockery and a large variety of glass items.
One of the best!
The villa was rather expensive but the bedroom sheets and towels were not included in the price which in this day and age, seems a bit cheap.
Windbreakers, sunshades and umbrellas should have been provided especially since we were mere minutes from the sea. We couldn't use the balcony during the day either, as it was too hot, and there was no shade!
The use and cost of gas and electricity was also not included.
I'm aware that this villa was in Italy, but there were hundreds of ants on the terrace, on the balcony, on the kitchen floor and outside the front door. I spent a lot of time trying to get rid of them and sweeping them away!
There was a dishwasher but no dish-washing tabs or washing-up liquid.
There was just 3 rolls of toilet paper for a 4-day stay. In fact, we ended up buying our own toilet paper, washing up liquid AND disinfectant, to fight the ants!
Very inadequate, but could be so much better.
