Fairy Story Village Farm B&B

It was 10 minutes outside of the city surrounded by rice paddies. The garden was very nice with lots of places to sit. The host was kind and greeted us with free fruit from the garden.

The goat was very nice, but she was rather upfront about asking for a 5 or 10 star review— even stated that she would upgrade us if we could promise her a top review. I ultimately did not promise to give a five star review, but she “upgraded” us anyway, though I couldn’t really tell what was so much nicer about the third floor room. I know how important these reviews are for small businesses—- and it was what was expected of a small, local motel/hotel, but was not above and beyond, which is what I require for a top rating. Honestly, the ten minutes she spent trying to ask us for this and holding up check in (and she gave us free crackers on the way it and asked again) was a little off putting for my American ways — I do understand this may be a cultural difference— but we stayed at six places while in Taiwan and this was the only one to do this.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay that far exceeded our expectations. We arrived early hoping just to drop off our luggage, not realizing that the host would only be around if informed in advance. Despite this, she immediately picked up our call and rushed over to welcome us — without a single complaint. That alone left us with a very strong first impression. During our stay, she thoughtfully arranged for us to enjoy her in-house hotpot specialty. The hotpot was excellent — very tasty, with fresh ingredients and generous portions. It was satisfying and well-prepared, and definitely one of the highlights of our stay. Knowing how difficult it is to get taxis for a big group, she kindly helped to transport us to nearby places we wanted to visit. She also recommended many great places to eat, explore, and play, and was even willing to bring us there herself. This made our trip incredibly smooth and stress-free. One of the biggest highlights was the in-house farm tour, which was both fun and educational for our kids. She thoughtfully organized games with prizes and patiently taught us about flowers, plants, and fruits. Our children got to catch fish, feed fish and chickens, and harvest oranges — they enjoyed every moment and talked about it nonstop. Every day without fail, she prepared flower and fruit tea for us, helped take photos, and even packed our purchased items very neatly. These thoughtful gestures really made us feel genuinely cared for. We also visited a scallion farm and harvested some scallions, only to find out that we couldn’t bring them back to Singapore. When we asked if she could help cook them for us and enquired about the charges, she told us it was free. Not only that, she prepared extra dishes such as porridge, vegetables, and floss, saying it might not be enough for us otherwise. Her kindness and generosity truly touched us. Overall, this stay exceeded all expectations.
