Clean room and friendly service

Most everything was straightforward. There was an elevator to the room and a hot shower. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was about what I'd expect out of a Holiday Inn Express.

The location is in a business district and there weren't any restaurants within walking distance. I was tired and went to the hotel restaurant but the wait was almost an hour for expensive food. I ended up having to drive somewhere or get delivery.

Regretful stay

Nothing. The worst expected trip it was.

Staff was very rude. They don't listen or care no matter what. Be it early checkin or 30 mins late check out. I tried to check in early stating I am not feeling well, but they said the room is cleaning. But after waiting an hour, they said the rooms are cleaned floor by floor so we cannot give room. Btw it wasn't free, I was ready to pay the amount for every hour extra. Next during check out: I told them I am in a meeting, allow me 30 mins late check out to which reception staff + cleaning staff, together started confronting stating we have to go home and only your room remaining so only 10 mins for you to checkout. My opinion is that, if you are so strict with your rules and don't care about what customers think then keep going and keep loosing customers. Also, the room had no mini fridge, no wardrobe, no writing pad or even a pen. Alot of room for improvement, to be honest.

Staff were very friendly and the hotel was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was great!

It’s a bit far from the centre of Utrecht but it is close to the bus stop and it only takes 10 minutes on the bus to get to the station, so really not much of an issue.

Overall excellent hotel

It was very clean and in a quiet location. The room was spotless and housekeeping did a good job. A very good choice at breakfast.

The ventilation panel in the window didn't seal properly so it was occasionally draughty. Needs some maintenance. Didn't raise with hotel as it's not a major issue and I was only there 4 days; might be an issue in winter? They could do with having egg cups for the boiled eggs at breakfast.

So disappointing..

The personnel was pretty polite and kind. At least the bathroom of the room was clean

I requested an early check in since I was travelling for business, the general manager of the hotel replied that when I arrive at the hotel they can check the availability and whether they can accommodate me. That was completely fine with me. However when I arrived at the hotel (13:02 and check in time at 15:00) the lady at the reception told me that they charge 10 euros/hour for the early check in. Well that is ridiculous and I was never informed about that! Thankfully after mentioning to the lady that I was not informed about that she said that she will not charge me this time but to keep it in mind for next time..Regarding the room, I was not expecting a five star hotel but at least some clean and comfortable room like holiday inn suggests, however the curtains were full of stains, the lining from the bed frame was torn, the mattress had a chuckhole in the middle and some bumps in other places, as a result I woke up with a really unpleasant feeling in my back. The breakfast was okay.

Taking an “ authorisation” on my card for items I was not going to purchase, nor did I , then telling me it was “ my bank” that would take up to 2 days to refund me for these “extras”. She was patronising and very rude. The 2 people in front of me did not have this “ authorisation”

We'll appreciate it if the price could be customised based on the number of people who live in the same size room. Double room with single occupied should be lower than double room with two people. Or more room type available like room with three beds.

Would definitely stay again.

The building was very modern. The bed and pillows where so comfortable. Was like sleeping on air. The bathroom (shower room) was large and had plenty of hot water. The reception staff where excellent, I didn’t catch their names, but they where “up for a laugh”. The bus stop was less than a 5 minute walk, no 102 or 107 takes you Utrecht Central We would definitely stay again 😁

Room was a little smaller than I thought, but it was ok. Not enough clothes hanger space. I don’t understand why the cleaning staff only leave 2 teabags, 2 sugars and 2 coffee sachets! I know they get replenished, but just 2? The only other negative, we had to check out a day earlier than expected, (due to personal reasons), but due to booking the hotel through booking.com, they wouldn’t refund that one night stay

Staff were great! Rooms are a big size and the breakfast options are pretty decent. Plus they have constant ice which is great 👍🏽
