We had a really enjoyable stay here. The hotel has great facilities, including two lovely pools, and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. A special mention to the young member of staff who helped us on our first night — he was extremely informative and made us feel very welcome. The team also kindly accommodated us when we decided to stay an extra night.
The wildlife around the hotel was fantastic and definitely one of the highlights. We also enjoyed the hike to the refuge.
The location is very remote, which is worth knowing before you arrive. A water taxi to Boca Chica costs around $3, where you can find shops and other amenities, so we’d recommend bringing some snacks and food with you.
We felt the hotel was reasonably priced — not expensive, although not necessarily the cheapest option. The excursions and tours offered by the hotel did seem a little expensive. For example, we paid $80 for a whale-watching trip on our first day, but found another company in Boca Chica offering the same type of trip for $35 the following day.
One small recommendation would be to consider having an adults-only pool or introducing some adults-only pool times. We stayed as a couple looking for some peace and quiet, and on occasion the pool area was quite noisy. Of course, this isn’t a criticism of families using the facilities, but it could be a nice addition.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The wildlife, facilities and friendly staff made it a great experience, and we’d happily recommend it.
