A decaying property with mold, painful sleep, and a cold pool with zero accountability by the owner

We've been here before a couple of years ago and really liked the place back then. Perfectly located right next to St Remy (easy to visit the town by foot) in a calm area right at the feet of the Alpilles. Also a nice concept of the few cottages around a pool, fully equipped with kitchen tools, large space, private parking and lots more. Would still love it if it was kept proper but unfortunately it seems they don't care.

Unfortunately it seems they haven't cared for the property within all that time, it was simply disgusting this time. The moment you open the door there is this nasty, damp smell that immediately told us something was wrong but we were too exhausted from the trip, so we just went to sleep. The next morning we realized how bad it really was, our airways were already compromised. The smell wasn't just damp, it smelled like mold and the reason wasn't hard to find at all, there was thick black mold everywhere in the apartment: in every corner, in the bathroom, behind the TV, behind the bed, around the windows and doors.. some they had tried to clean with quite aggressive cleaners that added a strong chemical smell of chlorine to the moldy smell. As we know how dangerous this kind of mold is for our bodies and we already had symptoms, we just packed our stuff and left. As this was the end of our trip, we went home early after this disappointment. We took lots of photos and videos though to prove how bad this was. Unfortunately neither the owner nor Booking really seemed to care. What's even worse, the owner never even responded to our complaint. In the end, Booking refunded 15% of the total amount as credit which seems like a bad joke compared to over 200€ we lost, not even considering our missed vacation. There were other things we couldn't enjoy like the terrible bed (the bed is so old and worn out that it sags badly, you can feel every slat through the mattress, and you wake up in pain with aches all over) or the pool. Even though the title of the place reads "heated pool" and our stay was at the beginning of October, the pool was too cold to use and there was quite some dirt floating in it. Most of the outdoor furniture was broken and should have been fixed or replaced long ago. The photos shown here on Booking were accurate in 2019 when we first stayed here but not today.

Very peaceful and spacious and great value for money.

Nice heated pool, very quiet and peaceful with the bonus of enclosed parking. 18 minutes walk to the town was ok. Easy check in with codes but the door lock was worn, loose and difficult to lock…just a quick replacement would improve the experience. Thanks for a great value for money stay.

This was a good place to stay as a central location for visiting Provence small cities and villages.

It is in a quiet location. The pool was wonderful--large and with warm water. Since the weather was very hot, it really was nice to come back to every day. The value for money was very good. Parking was in a gated secure area.

The kitchen prep area was cramped. The large bedroom in our particular unit was not completely private. The parking with our large car (accommodating 4 adults and luggage) was tight.

Easy access. The site was open and my name was on the door.

The door to the bathroom needs to be adjusted (loud scraping noise when opening). The wardrobe to get extra blankets also has a tricky door, we were concerned it would break if we opened it fully.

A lovely place, with a beautiful pool, simple interior and overall good equipment.

It is a beautiful small location that offers a lot of charme for people to stay in the middle of one of the most beautiful areas in the Provence. Easy to reach, with private parking etc. always felt safe.

We were not aware that there is a second part of the house rented out. In booking it is offered as a private full location, so this was a bit confusing. You have to share the pool as well as the parking.

A wonderful surprise

The children loved the pool, which was clean and reasonably warm. We all liked the space, facilities, peacefulness, nature, size of the fridge, historical features, booklet with ideas of what to do locally. We also loved St. Remy en Provence. It was very lively, the market was beautiful. We would have gladly stayed longer in the area to visit more of the little villages and archeological sites.

Very comfortable. Good outside seating area. Excellent location with views of the mountains and an easy walk into town. Very welcoming host.

I was met on arrival by the owner, Stephane, who was very welcoming and incredibly kind and helpful as I had not visited the area before. The little gite I was staying in was charming and perfectly situated for my needs. I was there for work on this occasion but wouldn't hesitate to book again for a holiday.

Sehr schöne Lage, gut erreichbar, dennoch sehr ruhig. Blick auf die Alpilles. Perfekte Organisation, gute Zugangsbeschreibung, privater, abgeschlossener Parkplatz. Sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtetes Appartment mit vollständiger, gut ausgestatteter Küche. Bequemes Bett. Sitzplatz vor dem Appartment, am Pool. Selbst wenn man den Pool wetterbedingt nicht nutzen kann, ist der Blick darauf sehr entspannend. Nachts ist der Garten beleuchtet, so dass man auch nach einem späten Ausflug sicher sein Appartment erreicht.

Man kann es in heutigen Zeiten unkompliziert nennen, wenn man vom Anfang bis zum Ende des Aufenthalts keine Menschenseele antrifft und trotzdem keine Probleme mit dem Zugang hat, weil alles über Handy und Code funktioniert. Das war die gute Seite. Schlecht ist halt: man kann seine Probleme niemandem direkt vortragen und muss auf dieses anonyme Verfahren der. Bewertung zurückgreifen.

Unerträglicher Mief in der ganzen Unterkunft. Bei geöffneter Tür kommt einem der Schwall schlechten Geruchs entgegen. Am nächsten Morgen hängt der Mief in den Kleidern und ist nicht durch einfaches Lüften zu zu entfernen. Der Mief ist verstärkt durch ein insgesamt feuchtes Klima in den Räumen. Licht und Luft nur durch die geöffnete Terrassentür. Diese Beschreibung trifft auf unsere Wohnung zu, die auch unter dem Nachteil noch leidet, dass die Ausrichtung nach Westen ist und hohe Bäume (was positiv sein kann) starken Schatten werfen.
