Excellent and Exceptional

Valamar Tirena is an exceptional property offering outstanding facilities, including a kids’ play area, tennis court, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, spa, and sauna. The beach is also within walking distance, making it a perfect location for a relaxing stay. The breakfast spread was extensive and delicious, and the staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. The entire property was well-maintained and spotless. I highly recommend this hotel, especially for parents, as it is both convenient and very family-friendly.

Great location for our visit to Dubrovnik as a family.

We had a nice stay with wonderful rooms. The breakfast and dinner buffet were excellent. My daughter really enjoyed their kid's area. The outdoor pool with a children's area and 2 larger water slides was also nice. The location was perfect to solve the parking situation in Dubrovnik; Bus #6 comes right to the hotel and takes you into old town!

It was advertised that the beach clubs were still open, but they were not. They had closed for the season: no chairs, no bathroom, no anything. Also other restaurants on the property were also closed due to "high season" being over.

Unforgettable, we had a lovely time

Amazing kids facilities including Maro world, baby food corner, bath in the hotel room. Buffet breakfast was great. They helped us to book a taxi with car seat for our baby, we were very thankful. Really enjoyed your stay there, highly recommended for families.

Wish they could provide shampoo/ conditioner/ shower gel rather than just one product for body and hair.

Lovely hotel away from the noise of Dubrovnik

We arrived at the end of September, which apparently meant that things were quieter and less crowded. The hotel was in a nice location away from the noisier areas in Dubrovnik. We arrived really early, but we got into our room around noon. Initially, we were located right above the bar/lounge area which started playing live music in the evening. As we had woken up at 4am for our flight, we were super tired (and generally prefer our room to be quiet) but we were able to switch rooms immediately to a very quiet area room the hall. This is a family hotel, I did not realize this when I booked it without the option to cancel/get a refund. However, if we had kids, I think this hotel would’ve been great for them. All in all, the staff were very kind and helpful and the property had a lot of sustainability measures in place (example: AC wouldn’t work if the sliding glass door to the patio was open). Breakfast buffet was also quite ample with lots of options.

There is no gym on the premises. If you want to use the gym you’re limited to using the one at their other property. I don’t know if it was just because there was a conference or it was two hotels using one gym, but it was so crowded. We checked it out the first morning when we arrived at 10:30 and then attempted to go the next morning at 7:50. I can’t even imagine how packed this would be during high season. It might be a sustainability thing or the high turnover of guests, but the rooms did not have robes or slippers. I can live without the robes, but slippers are always useful as I have no idea how dirty the floors are and would rather not walk around in shoes or socks. There was also no conditioner. They offer a two for one body wash/shampoo which is always a bit sketchy. In any event, I bought conditioner at the closest Studenac market. As I mentioned above, this is a family hotel, which is great if you have kids or probably are older and have kids. We do not have children, so some of the other Valamar properties might have been more ideal hotel for a couple in their 30/40’s.

AMAZING! SPECTACULAR!!! STAY HERE!!!

Breakfast was phenomenonal. There was so much variety. Traveled with family, so there were options for everyone. We received adjoining rooms for a family of 5, so the kids had their own space. Pool was amazing! EVERYTHING was AMAZING!! 10 min drive to downtown Dubrovnik. The beach was a 5-7 min walk, and there were restaurants in the promenade. We didn't even need to leave the resort.

Pleasant but not quite what I anticipated

We stayed B&B. Breakfast was good - nice selection, even though it never varied. Rooms were super clean and staff great. We tended to use the Lacroma pool as it was slightly quieter.

I booked this hotel as the images implied that the beach bar was part of the hotel so I thought this would give us another option during the day. Unfortunately the images by the beach are of a separate beach bar where you have to pay extortionate prices to hire a lounger or eat. I would suggest those images are either removed or this is made more clear. The shopping area around the hotel is also a little run down and a little disappointing considering the price paid.

Exceeded my expectations and my kids loved it and want to go back

My kids loved Maro World. Great games that I had never seen myself. My kids played hours in here and then would go to the water slides and then for a dip in the pool and sea.

Lovely vacation

We enjoyed our stay here. The personnel was very nice and friendly. Variety of food at dinner is impressing. We loved fish and seafood options, pizza was great. The restaurant employees - chefs, servers, hostess were super friendly and accommodating. Many thanks to Maria at reception who was very attentive to our wishes, we always felt warm welcomed when approached her. The hotel does not have its own beach, but at the end it was not a big issue. We enjoyed the nearby beaches everyday. They are public by law, therefore people can swim everywhere. Maro world took special place in our hearts. Many thanks for organizing such an amazing place that brings lots of joy and happiness to kids. Our toddler loved it!

Absolutely amazing place and wonderful staff! The hotel has everything you need. The pool is very nice and clean, with a small pool for little children and a sail to provide shade. The food is excellent — high quality with a wide variety of choices for both breakfast and dinner. Soft drinks and coffee are included. The facilities for children are outstanding. The Maro World is fantastic, filled with building blocks, multimedia attractions, games, and trampolines. There's also a club for younger kids with top-quality toys. They organize great activities and animations for children, including classes like robotics. A big plus: it’s open until 10 PM! The service is something truly special. You can tell that children are the top priority here. Kids receive small welcome gifts, and the staff is incredibly kind and attentive to them. We were even allowed a late check-out (this is not guaranteed, depending on room availability), which was great — it let us enjoy all the attractions and the pool on our departure day, and still take a comfortable shower before heading home. A huge thank you to the entire team. This place is something truly wonderful. The hotel left a big impression on us, and we highly recommend it!

A lovely first experience in Croatia!

Choice of Breakfast items was immense! Room was lovely, plenty of room and modern looking with good air con. Large bathroom. Cocktail of the day was a great idea for a sundowner before dinner.

Highly recommend for families with young children!

Myself my partner and my 5 year old stayed at this lovely hotel for 2 nights on our first visit for Dubrovnik and we would highly recommend for families with young children. The hotel is modern, clean and well designed with AMAZING facilities for kids. The kids facilites are the best I have seen at any hotel we didn’t use the Maro kids club itself as we were there for a short stay (but the programme looked fantastic!) but I loved the fact that we would drop into the play area and trampoline park at any time and my daughter loved the water slides at the pool area. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the beach is beautiful and we loved that it is an easy walk down the promenade to find restaurants in the evening and just a short inexpensive uber to Dubvrivnik old town. We would definitely return for longer next time thank you!

The breakfast buffet is ok but have had better elsewhere - fresh coffee rather than self-serve machines would have been preferable. The a la carte lunch menu at the pool restaurant is very expensive for average food/small portions.

Great Hotel, Helpful Staff, Great Facilities

The staff were so helpful. Every request was attended to promptly. I like that you can order a few items through the TV profile. I requested for late checkout and was pleased to be granted. The breakfast and dinner options were great with different options for dinner every night. Hotel very close to Copacabana beach just about 8mins walk and there's also a very well stocked souvenir shop and a couple of corner shops on site. The ability to use the sister hotel facilities is a good thing, especially the indoor pool and spa area. Maro world was a great hit with the kids. They spent all their time there.

One of the reasons I chose the hotel was that the outdoor pool had a big water slide for the kids, but it was out of service throughout our stay, unfortunately.

Brilliant experience overall.

Location was excellent and the complex was so clean with so many amenities on the campus.

The only slight drawback is that the hotel can be quite loud and sound echoes alot throughout the building. The Maro World is brilliant but some of the virtual games on the trampolines or downstairs were not functioning properly and require work to fix the issues.

Breakfast was quite nice. İndoor and outdoor pool also nice for kids and families. Our 8 years old son enjoyed a lot in the maro park. If I have an another reservatıon I would probably choose the other valamar next to tirena which is a bit more luxirious. Two hotels are usıng together the indoor pool and game center. Spa and ındoor pool is in the other valamar game center is located in the tirena.

Perfect hotel for a relaxing family vacation

Absolute superb breakfast, so many choices and all of good quality. Nice size rooms and the complex is big, with a lot of guests, but it never felt crowded. There are just enough possibilities to sit down quiet and relax

We went all the way down to the coral beach club as it is right on the lake. There are signs on the complex for the 2 beach clubs, but to hire a bed is € 100 each per day and I think that is way overpriced and I understood they are not related to the hotel. If I would have known this sooner, I would not even go all the way down to the club.

Good and clean rooms and fantastic facilities.

Breakfast was very good and a lot to choose from. Swimming pool area very nice and good for families. Staff at the hotel friendly and the Oliva restaurant was good with good service. Easy to ride the bus in to Old town.

A great quality family hotel with lots of things to do with children.

The room was excellent in terms of comfort and design, ours had a lovely view over the garden and the pool. The bathroom and shower were superb, no issues with water pressure etc. at all. The entertainment on offer was brilliant too, with a very well equipped games room for teenagers and adults alike. The pool area and slides were really nice too, up to date furniture and generally great facilities. Staff were really helpful and welcoming, both at check-in and check-out. The location is literally a 10-15 min ride from Dubrovnik old town, which is easily accessible by bus or a short Uber ride.

Whilst the breakfast buffet was great with lots on offer, I missed real soft fruit, like strawberries, raspberries, blueberries that you could add to yoghurts and pancakes for instance. Only one of the beach bars/restaurants was open at the time of our visit (April) and the food on offer was nothing special, so we didn't end up eating there in spite of the lovely views over the sea. Because the hotel is so oriented on families with small children, our early morning sleep (i.e. prior to 7:00am) was sometimes disrupted by loud TV entertainment to keep little ones settled in nearby rooms. It's not a hotel where you have a longer lie in as such. The quality of the wines on offer in the bar was only so so, which was surprising given the amount of great local wines available in the region.

Wonderful breakfast, great selection and many potions. I was delighted to find gluten-free items. The staff were very helpful and friendly. My teen son loved the breakfast and could not wait in the morning to have his pancakes. We did enjoy our dinner at the hotel as well. I really appreciate dining room staffs knowledge about food allergens as I absolutely need gluten-free diet. After spending the days: outdoors exploring the city, visiting near by coastal towns, it felt nice to come back to our quiet room to relax. We did sleep well in the comfy bed with soft pillows.
