About this house rental
Welcome to Finding Sandity, a stunning semi-oceanfront vacation home on the 4x4 beaches of Carova Beach, Northern Outer Banks, North Carolina. This 5-bedroom, 2,602 sq ft beach house sleeps 10 and sits on a lot with better unobstructed ocean views than most true oceanfront homes in the 4WD area. A private 14x28 pool, 6-person hot tub, game room with pool table, and ships watch loft make this one of the most complete vacation rentals on the Northern OBX. Walk to the beach in less than a minute. A four-wheel-drive vehicle is required; the property sits approximately 3 miles up the 4x4 beach. Three-night minimum stays available in spring and fall.
Bedrooms & Sleeping Arrangements
Five bedrooms sleep 10 guests across three levels. The top level features a king master bedroom with private deck access and panoramic ocean views. The second level offers a king bedroom with private bath and deck access, a queen bedroom with private bath and deck access, and a duo-bunk room with double bottom bunk, twin top, and an additional twin bed. A fourth second-level bedroom has been converted into a game room with a pool table and brand new queen sleeper sofa with deck access. A bonus bunk room on the top level is perfect for the little ones.

The brand new 14x28 private pool sits on the oceanfront side of the property next to the dune, surrounded by sea oats — one of the most scenic pool settings on the 4x4 beach. The 6-person hot tub is open Memorial Day through end of September alongside the pool. An outdoor shower, charcoal BBQ grill, fish cleaning table, and outdoor furniture round out the ground level. Covered parking for two vehicles available.
Ships Watch & Views
The top-level open floor plan features a kitchen, dining room, living room, and ships watch loft — all wrapped in windows with multiple seating options and unobstructed panoramic ocean and beach views. Watch sunrises from bed on the second level or take your coffee to the ships watch for a front-row seat over the Atlantic.

The house was spacious and had everything we needed. The caretakers were extremely helpful and quick to respond, even when I just asked for their favorite restaurants. Driving on the beach was adventurous and was a fun experience! Seeing the horses in the yard was so peaceful. The house had enough room for our 3 teens to have their own space, yet lots of room for family time. The pool and hot tub were a welcome change when we done with the beach for the day. We will definitely be back!

Finding Sandity was an amazing house on the beach! We are a family of 4, so the house was much larger than what we needed and we had plenty of room to spread out. The house had everything we needed (note the house does not have a propane BBQ). We sat on the deck each morning watching the dolphins play in the water. We were not able to use the pool for the first few days of our trip due to the cooler temperatures. However, once the weather warmed back up, the pool was wonderful. The beds and bathrooms are all great, everything was very clean! We enjoyed playing pool in the evenings, too! We saw the wild horses every day on the beach, which was so incredible! On our last night, they came up to the house, so we watched them from the top deck, what an amazing experience!!On a side note, driving on the 4wd beach and dunes is no joke. We were prepared, but it was not easy. We saw many tow trucks every day, so you can always get "unstuck." Also, highly recommend stopping at the grocery store before you get to the house!

The host was very responsive. We had a minor hiccup with the door lock, she was quick to respond and assist. Leading up to our stay, she communicated in a timely manner answering any questions we had. The beds were comfortable, the views were amazing, and the house was clean. We enjoyed our stay with the added bonus of seeing the wild horses right outside the house! The road to the driveway can feel intimidating but we had no issues whatsoever. Overall a great stay and house.

WE arrived at the proper time, 4 PM, just as high tide left. didnt releaize that you were stuck on the island from 10 AM until 4 PM from the tide covering the beach road. the home while the location is great if your goal is to beach full time, was a bit run down, not well kept but clean. Lots of sand and forget it if you dont come in 4WD truck/jeep. Wild horses were pretty cool. The hot tub was great but very dirty, didnt scare us, proba should have.
