Was a great weekend away with our family and dog- it’s pet friendly which is also great!

Lovely location! We loved the horses! Beautiful views and very friendly owner. Always willing to help and go out of her way. The place has absolutely everything we needed and was well-equipped for kids with plenty board games too. It had cots, high chairs and stair gates that we requested to be put up which made life loads better! Thank you for this Lynne & Richard.

The WiFi was really not great. We couldn’t watch Netflix / any streaming channels as the signal was too weak. The owner tried helping but there was no strength in the wifi that’s set up there.

Perfect country retreat, fantastic place for kids!

Lovely property and excellent location as we were getting married at Cubley Hall a mile away and used the property as a base for us and family. The house is so much bigger on the inside, it really is like a tardis! Amazing views over the countryside, the windows and the lighting are perfect. The zip wire was also a massive hit with the kids we couldn’t get them off it!

It took us a while to get the hot water working in the showers, but everything else was perfect. We would definitely return in future!

Cosy property overlooking peaks, well equipped and excellent host. Great for family or friends meet.

We were left with a welcome pack of essentials including bread, milk, pastries, cereals and fruit. This was in addition to usual kitchen stock items you really appreciate at properties e.g. salt and pepper, oil, sauces. Host arranged celebratory banner and balloons as well which was a lovely touch!

Perfect stay

The property was clean, comfortable, very well equipped, and surprisingly spacious! We really enjoyed the views of the countryside and the wildlife. The location was great for exploring the Peak District and beyond. We visited Buxton, Bakewell, Hathersage, Castleton, Bolsover Castle, Manchester and Barnsley... plus many spots in-between! The hosts were brilliant in ensuring we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hartcliffe Retreat to anyone looking to stay in the area.

We loved our stay at Hartcliffe Retreat and we will definiately be back

On arrival our host Lynne had balloons, a card and flowers waiting for us for my wife’s 50th which was the purpose of our trip. The generosity of the welcome pack was also gratefully received. The property itself is fantastic so spacious and furnished to the highest standard with beautiful the views and surroundings. Penistone is a lovely little place and there are lots of walks nearby

Spacious, well-equipped house with beautiful views.

The house is remote and quite with beautiful views. It was a lot bigger than expected and was spotless! The hosts thought of everything and more. The kitchen was well equipped and we were left some breakfast items such as cereal, milk, bread, fruit and eggs which was a lovely touch. We felt very welcomed as soon as we arrived and it had a homely feel. The check in process was very easy with great communication before we arrived. There is enough parking for 2-4 cars. The showers were good and the beds were comfortable. There are lots of beautiful walks close by.

Fantastic stay at this property even for children there is a tree house and a zip line for children.

The property is self catering but the owner leaves a welcome pack which has cereal continental breakfast makings eggs butter tea coffee fresh milk so can not fault it for all the supplies that where left for us to use I will be recommending this to friends and family and will book this property again in the future

The owners could not do anymore to improve this house it is well worth the cost and the comfort is amazing

Spectacular!

An amazing view of the Penines but what we loved the best was the home away from home feel. There were essential fridge items provided, that makes all the difference when you have had a long journey. Prior to arrival there was a lot of communication from the host and during our stay we appreciated the lovely Yorkshire hospitality, checking that we had all we needed. We would love to return.

Excellent accommodation, peaceful location, wonderful host

Exceptionally quiet and peaceful location, but only a short walk down into Cubley (on the outskirts of Penistone). Plenty of space within the accommodation for a large group. Great amenities (kitchen was excellent) and plenty of comfy spots to relax. Showers were great (nothing worse than a weak shower!) and the bedrooms very comfy. Enclosed front garden was great for the two canine friends that were with us.

We just about managed to squeeze four cars into the parking spaces provided for the retreat, not a huge issue for most people I'd imagine though - we were 5 friends and 2 dogs coming from different sides of the country!

We loved the house. It's facilities were great. Very practical and well laid out. It was cozy and comfortable. Lynne was friendly and helpful and kindly helped us with extra logs for the fire. She also let us have a late checkout. I would definitely recommend and would stay again.
