The place is NOTHING as advertised. I escaped after one night because of how disappointing the place was. All other bad reviews about this place are 100% true.
- the room smelled like the toilet, very bad smell
- the door to the bathroom is all glass. The room has all glass front wall so the staff sweeping outside can see you in the morning if you don't keep your curtains completely closed
- very mouldy bathroom that isn't properly cleaned. See photos.
- paint outside the room on the ceiling is peeling
- depressing surroundings. They market unspoiled nature views but all you see is trash, abandoned concrete constructions
- weird activity going on in the "ecostay". Perhaps construction? Very loud.
- dogs on the property, enter the rooms. For those who are afraid of dogs it can be very unpleasant.

Everything! Is the perfect getaway in the nature, soo relaxing, the room was beautiful, the view from the restaurant, the food and the staff were amazing! The staff so friendly and welcoming makes you feel in home, they help me to arrange a birthday celebration and they did their best to make it special. Honestly the best place I’ve stayed in Bali.
Maybe the mattress was quite soft, so more than 3 days your back can feel it.

The level of service was exceptional. From the moment I booked until the time I said goodbye the service was very impressive.
They were genuinely joyful and kind.
The spa treatments were fantastic. The lady did a really good job. The spa has been updated. The pictures I saw when booking are outdated.
The food is top shelf. It's excellent across the board.
The view is nature's finest. So beautiful!
I've voiced the immediate troubles I had before I left. So, hopefully they will work with that information. I won't discuss it here.
They do express that they have a ramp. It's actually stairs.
The reception/restaurant are at the top and as you proceed down the stairs you'll see all the different houses, each in it's own space. I was 160 steps from the top.
I picked the Avocado House for the hammock showcased in the photos, and also, the bathroom facilities. How could I say no? It was my birthday weekend.
There wasn't a hammock. That's okay, there was a net.
The shower doesn't have a proper drain. The stepping stones that are shown in the photos aren't there either. There were worms in that area, and I noticed what they were only after discovering them in the bathtub too. I fully realize that it's outside and rustic, but sanitary measures should be taken to prevent this. I never did have the bath that I booked the room for. The water wasn't draining properly from the tub, and no amount of efforts would have made it a comfortable situation for me.
This place is very rustic. It's one with the Earth. The construction of the facilities is impressive. The staff, service, and food
is exceptional.

Beautiful property, amenities for a secluded stay (in-house restaurant, spa services), friendly and hospitable staff
Room condensation - mainly due to the area’s climate, and staff work hard to resolve this

The staff were so helpful, i had a head cold and slept alot, i was well cared for with soothing honey , lemon and ginger drinks.
The walk to the waterfall and small river was beautiful, in the jungle. Also views spectacular

Great location amongst the hills and rainforest. There is a waterfall nearby that you can hear from your bed. Great staff who go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. Highly recommend the cooking class at gumi ayu!

The staff was so kind with us always here to help us with our questions and providing local drivers to go to some places.
Also the food is so authentic and delicious we had breakfast and dinner. I recommend trying the serapah bali.
For the room it was clean and had a nice decoration for our honeymoon, you will get some bugs in the room knowing you are in the jungle it is normal and we had no problem sleeping with the mosquito net, the bed is so comfy.
It is a place that we recommend if staying in Munduk area.

We loved everything about our stay. The room was very nice, our own little cabin. The bed was good and comfy. The location was very nice and quiet, surrounded by nature. The property is right beside a waterfall and has its own private place besides the river.
The staff is really nice, attentive and helpful.
The food in the restaurant is really good. The breakfast is great, they have the best pancakes! 🥰
I had a massage in the spa and it was amazing!
I definitely recommend it. If I ever go back to the island, I'd stay there again.
I loved everything. Just a suggestion, it'd be nice if they provided slippers.

Lovely place, set in beautiful surroundings. My Avocado room was all the way down (170 steps), close to the river and the yoga shala. Especially the ‘Bali bathroom’ (outside) was amazing, with a bathtub with a view at nature. Staff is engaged. Massage was good.
Well, the 170 steps ;) But it was a proper excercise. I advised the staff to check the matress because it wasn’t that comfortable. And some things could use some tlc, like the massage hut. But: great place with good staff!

Nothing, everything was great

The staff were incredible.
The steps outside are very steep and uneven.Quite dangerous. Definitely not for the elderly. In fact i misjudged the last step and did some serious damage to my back. And although i take full responsibility they have a duty of care.I was't happy when they charged me for a message afterwards

The immersion into nature and the waterfall noise was for me incredibly wonderful. The staff went far and beyond (as i arrived a little unwell) to look after me.
Very attentive and super helpful. They made me feel at home !!’

We absolutely loved our stay! The house is a beautiful, fully wooden standalone unit tucked deep in the jungle, offering total privacy you barely even see other guests. The constant sound of the river and wildlife made the experience magical. The staff were super friendly, and the café had stunning views with good food. The hot bathtub was a real highlight, and the place was well-equipped with everything fan, cooler, heater, safety box, fridge. It was the perfect jungle retreat.
The only minor downside was that instead of one big mattress, there were two single ones pushed together, which wasn’t ideal for sleeping as a couple.

The remote and rustic charm and feeling of being immersed in the forest was amazing. The constant sound of Munduk Waterfall and insects truly felt a millions miles away.
Very attentive and helpful staff can source day trips and scooter rental.
Beautiful view from restaurant area.
Just a word of warning for those who don’t like steps. We had 174 steep steps to our room Avocado. The path is lit at night but can be slippy.
Breakfast was basic, but free, but they do have a paid menu if require more.
Restaurant has last orders at 2030 and they close at 2100. Including the gates to the property. So you need WhatsApp to message security.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed sleeping with sounds of the waterfall and forest in the background. It’s also cool and didn’t need air-conditioning.
Nothing. Maybe the steps. Too many. But can’t be helped.

Recommend booking the bungalow, we were in the studio and could hear the restaurant

One of the most tranquil and beautiful places I have ever stayed in. The staff went over and above expectations to make our stay memorable.
Will definitely return and for more than one night.

Really cool open air cabinas nestled in the jungle with views of the waterfall. Delicious food and friendly staff made this experience really special.

The staff are extremely helpful and caring. The food is also perfect. The room is beautiful, in a real natural setting. Massage was delightful. To asleep and wake up with waterfall sound is truly unique.
It is important to consider that the sound of insects, squirrels or lizards scurrying around in the wild cannot be avoided. And the waterfall. Also, the humidity in the mountains is extremely high, but that's nature.

The hosting family are super kind and take care of you like you are their family. We loved it there. The nature surroundings are beautiful, the house location (literally on a mountain next to a Waterfall) is epic and the massage was really good! We loved it!

The view from the restaurant was spectacular!
A bit overpriced compared to the other places we stayed on Bali. Lack of atmosphere. We didn’t like the dogs being around in the restaurant

Friendly and helpful staff. Delicious breakfast. Beautiful nature all around.
No air conditioning, only a fan.
Smell of the mold in the room. Very high humidity.
The location: no gojek/grab available (no drivers available everytime we tried), difficult to walk anywhere (hilly roads).

The dining area, which is also the reception, is cozy and has a great view of the mountains.
The staff are very helpful and responsive. We did not expect Bali to be quite cold in the evening, and the team prepared hot water bottles for us, which was really sweet and attentive.
I love the massage service! One of the best in my life!
The shower in the bathroom did not have a sound drainage system. The whole bathroom was flooded after I took my shower.
Wifi was weak in the room.

Amazing staff that were super helpful all throughout our stay. Provided everything we could think of needing, breakfast and dinner were delicious too. The room itself was extremely comfortable, and overall we had a great stay.

The west facing sunset view from the restaurant is amazing. I stayed in two different rooms and both have fantastic views. The staff give high touch service and really want guests to have a good stay. The room was simple and clean. They put a water dispenser and tea kettle in every room, which is really great to have. Some rooms have a mini fridge. The free breakfast was a nice touch.
I erroneously made the assumption that as an "eco" hotel they would use eco friendly building materials and cleaning products, but that is not the case. There were bags of air freshener in the room, under the bed, and the sheets and towels smelled strongly of perfume. The studio room is new and still offgassing.
As is the case with other hotels along the same main street corridor, there is a lot of street noise at night, plus barking dogs and roosters. During my stay, there was a construction project adjacent to my room that was both noisy and there was a large cloud of white dust and a strong odor to the building materials used, which is really toxic and unhealthy to breathe. Bummer because I hoped to sit on my deck and look at the gorgeous view. The toxic environment is at odds with the "eco" label. I also think it worth mentioning that I got my only case of Bali belly from eating in their restaurant. I only ate there for three days and two of the dishes looked suspect, but I ate them anyway to be polite and ended up needing a doctor to make a house call to my next hotel. 🥴

A night-experience in the heart of the jungle with all the sounds of nature, including a view on a small and lovely waterfall.
The best experience is downstairs, close to the waterfall, but only for sportive people (a lot of stairs to connect from rooms to lobby).
Very good and complete breakfast, with staff proactive proposals to satisfy the whole family (ex. Excellent hot chocolate for the kids !)
Don’t be insect-reluctant, or skip this place: naturally, rooms cannot be 100% insect-proof.

Gumi Ayu EcoHotel was by far the most pleasant and amazing place that we stayed in in Bali. The hotel is placed on a small hill and the little „treehouses“ are surrounded by trees, a waterfall, and lots of nature. The rooms are very clean and cozy and our room came with a balcony, outdoor bathtub and even a little hammock to chill in. The views from the restaurant are amazing (especially when you catch a sunset) and the breakfast as well as lunch and dinner they serve there is very delicious.
Nevertheless, the best part about our stay was the friendly and helpful staff. From always asking about our day and wellbeing to providing great tips, organizing trips, arranging take-away breakfast or even helping me get back something I forgot - the team is just great!
Thank you again for making our stay so unforgettable.
nothing! just keep in mind that the treehouses are located in the forest and you might hear some animal noises in the night, but nothing to worry about at all

Gumi Ayu exceeded all of our expectations - for the price we paid, we were not expecting such a high level of cleanliness and service. The room itself was super cool with the most magical view of the jungle and waterfall. The outside bathroom was great, no issues with bugs and really clean.
The restaurant/lobby has an even better view and we spent a lot of time chilling here and eating their delicious food. Huge thanks to Eva and Nita who were amazing throughout our stay.
We did the Balinese cooking class in their kitchen which was a once in a lifetime experience. Three chefs and just the two of us. We made so much food and they set it up as a little banquet for us to enjoy in the restaurant afterwards. All for 400k - priceless.
Thank you to all staff at Gumi Ayu for an unforgettable stay with you.

The staff is super kind and the cabans make you feel like you are a part of nature. Our room had an amazing view to a waterfall.
The wi-fi is not good and the internet does not work well since the property is so far from everything. it is also very far from markets and pharmacies, you can’t get food delivery nor a grab/gojek to go places. You become dependent on hotel drivers.

Spacious, well equiped cottages with great views, far enough from neighbours to have 100 % privacy. Staff goed the extra mile to make you happy. Lovely and original BF options. Value exceeds the price.
