Great repurposed old building to magnificence!

Absolutely adored the building. It was an easy walk into the old town which we loved seeing. Brunch was quite nice.

Our room was smaller than I anticipated, I had paid for the next level up from basic. The only thing that helped was the high ceilings. But for two adults and a dog, it felt crowded. Beautiful and comfortable.

Paper cups in room, dirty kettle (in top of wardrobe in wheelchair access room along with towels), hot breakfast below par. Toilet paper dispenser instead of rolls. No roll space under bathroom sink.

Complicated to find the hotel and park because of the street works going on at the time I visited the hotel.

Would stay here again - once the city renovation is done

Middle of a building site for a city upgrade. No current hotel parking due to the building works. Bad or no signage from the recommended Parking Indigo Mechelen Keerdok car park, across gravel that damaged our car’s paintwork

It’s a nice hotel but service from ground team can be improved

The uber is not able to come in right infront of the property. When asked the reception she said taxi yes they will come in and uber they are not sure if they are come in. I feel the reception can at least let us know how we can direct the uber in.

Room is dusty.. fake flowers has a full half inch of dust. Request from room cleaning at 4pm but came back at 2am it wasn’t cleaned at all. Construction is on going infront of the hotel which is not mentioned anywhere in the website prior to booking

Enjoyed the history and atmosphere.

All except my view was a construction site and our taxi Uber could not find you. Maybe he should have just entered Hotel Mechelen which should be the bigger name when I booked but instead there was confusion between Van der Valk and Hotel Mechelen.

I am not sure if I would stay here again

The rooms are brand new and light, with a great interior. The restaurant was amazing; the spaghetti was absolutely delicious.

There was no water in the room, no fridge, nothing to make tea, no cups, just cardboard cups (while planting trees with go-forest), the cardboard cups didn't fit the coffee maker. The hairdryer was so bad that even after 15 minutes of 'drying' my hair, it was not dry yet. It took ages to figure out how to switch the towel heater on and off, and the same was true for the heating/fan in the room. The window was open on arrival, and the room was very cold. I had to move the sofa to stand on it to close the window. The soap dispenser was stuck, so I had to remove it from its holder to take soap. The only way to switch off the right bed lamp was to unscrew the bulb; the left was not working. This is not what I am used to when staying at Van Der Valk.

Lovely

The room was great and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was also nice with lots of choices. I think the hotel will be amazing once the renovations will be over, I am pretty sure the view from the chamber we got will be wonderful.

Everything was great! The only problem was that we were unlucky to visit the hotel during the renovation of the surroundings. Lots of noise, even on the Saturday morning we could hear hammers being used (they avoided using loud machines, but couldn't do anything but continue working with less noisy tools... that were still pretty noisy).

Fancy furnitures and restoration of a historical building. The restaurant is excellent.

Breakfast very poor for 33€??? Are you serious? Pillows small and hard: the materass outdated. Gym is underground and mini No support from the big disruption of parking due to road works.

The hotel looked as shown in the pictures. The rooms were nice and clean.

The suite wasn't what we expected, it was actually worse than the rooms. I found it very strange that in a hotel with a restaurant, we couldn't get food on demand, but instead had to wait. E.g. - breakfast is served until 10:30, but if you miss it, you can't go the restaurant until 11:30.

Great hotel, clean , comfy beds

Lovely hotel, very clean, comfortable room. Easy access to modern multi story car park which is beside the hotel. I had a fantastic sleep due to very comfy beds. Lots of choice at breakfast and food was good.

The place is nice, restaurant food was good as well.

The air conditioning wasn’t working and it was a very hot day, when we complained at the desk the girl said that it was hard to keep up all the rooms cold because everybody is using the airco.. for this simple reason I won’t stay again there.

Overall good quality

There were no curtains in the bathroom and since there is no door between bathrooms and bedroom, the early summer daylight was shining on the bed in full as of 6am. (room 174). Very disturbing.

Very poor

There was no airconditioning in the room and the room was really hot. Hotel was fully booked so no other choice. It would be better to tell in advance so I could have booked another hotel.

Lovely hotel

The hotel is in old building, beautifully renovated! The room was big, nicely decorated with a lot of light and a nice view to the water. Walking distance to the center, maybe 10-15 minutes. The parking is just 2 minutes walk from the hotel, very conveniently located. I would recommend the hotel and for sure if during my travels I will find somewhere else a hotel from this chain, for sure I will choose it.

Convenient

Breakfast had a wide choice & good coffee machines. - missed having some normal cereal like cornflakes or musli ( didn’t like the super foods)

It’s a typical airport hotel so location is convenient for that and also to my work so I can have a nice walk to the office in the morning. In the evening the location is not so good if you just want to have a stroll to unwind - there’s nothing to see or do by foot. You need to have a car or go by taxi.

Pillows! I have never seen such small pillows on a bed, they are square like you would have on a sofa not a bed woke me up, rolling off them, which is such a shame as the rooms and finish are great
