About this house rental
Built by Rasa Hows, this farmhouse was erected in 1840 and has been lovingly updated from then to this more modern fresh now. Think luxury meets refined Americana. This home is situated on 10 acres with stables and plenty of outdoor entertaining areas for the whole family or fun friends. We're on the National Historic Registry. Folklore suggests a Civil war skirmish fought on the property, to Frank and Jesse James whisky brewing... even a still under the house during prohibition supplying moonshine to Al Capone.

We had a wonderful stay at this property. The home is beautiful, the setting is peaceful, and it comfortably accommodated our multi-generational group of eight. One of our favorite parts was spending time together on the porch with cocktails, breakfast, or just talking, and later sitting around a fire in the backyard. We were in town for a graduation and it was the perfect place to relax and enjoy each other’s company after a lot of activity on campus.

We stayed here for our son's wedding and were very comfortable. Our host was easily accessible for an internet issue. We would stay here again and highly recommend this beautiful and historic home.

The VRBO display of the bedrooms available was very misleading. The listing did say 4 bedrooms but the picture actually shows a separate building with 2 beds which we assumed was a 5th room for sleeping. The owners description was correct but the VRBO display was not.
