Over four generations of my family have lived in this house beginning before 1900. You can rent the entire historic home for a weekend or longer and enjoy the Ohio scenic byways and the Buckeye trail during the day, eat out in restaurants in nearby Dennison or New Philadelphia, or create your own masterpiece in our fully furnished gourmet kitchen. This is a rare gem and perfect for family reunions, hunting groups, weddings, or for weekend getaway- just you and your special love. I have taken this spring while waiting for the return of families from afar to reunite and relax in Hazel’s House, to spruce up! A lovely older home in a clearly devoted and friendly community with a quaint general store right next door. We enjoyed board games with family around the dining room table, fishing, swimming and beach time at nearby Tappan Lake — a true jewel of the area, evenings by the backyard fire pit, and we especially liked the nearby hiking trails. The owner was kind, friendly and attentive, even making sure we had plenty of firewood for our Labor Day weekend stay. Loved the interesting history of the area and all the old buildings. A truly enjoyable getaway! P.S. Tea on the front porch swing was so relaxing.

I accidentally found this treasure while searching for a short spring break get away with the family. This was a fantastic vacation with the family. The weather was windy which kept knocking the internet out. This was the only semi issue of the whole trip. One of my requirements was reliable internet as my wife and I were suppose to work. Thankfully, we had the time and flexibility to take the week off. The hot tub, claw foot tub, sauna, heated floor, well stocked kitchen, and fenced in back yard was a huge win and totally worth the forced unplugging. We will be back!

We had a great weekend away in Deersville at Hazel’s House. I love the way the home is decorated & the lakes being nearby is fantastic for all ages. The one thing I would say is the house has a lot of steps - so if you have someone who has issues with steps I would stay at her other Deersville property which is fantastic!

We especially loved the kitchen windows, front porch swing and the General Store next door.However, the house has some electrical issues and some mold in the downstairs bathroom. When we touched the stove, dishwasher or light switch in the bathroom we received a slight shock. It made all of us feel uneasy. Our host came over as soon as we phoned her with the issue. But she dismissed the situation as not really a big deal. We felt as though we had an obligation to tell others about this issue. Check to make sure these issues have been resolved before renting this house.

My girlfriends and I stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate our 50th year around the sun. It's very remote but right next door to the Deersville General Store which has food, ice cream, alcohol and general sundries. The house is extremely comfortable and well equipped. It has a gourmet kitchen if you like to cook. We enjoyed the hot tub in several occasions. We took a day trip to Pittsburgh (about 1.25 hours away) and to Raven's Glenn Winery (about 45 mins away). If you are looking for a quiet getaway this is the place for you.

My family just stayed in Hazel's house and we absolutely loved it. It is unique and clean and has everything you may need. The charm of the house is just adorable! We all enjoyed the hot tub which was also very clean. Also the adults loved the steam sauna. I would recommend staying her to anyone. We will be back.

Hazel's House is an historic structure in the heart of Deersville Ohio. It was recently restored with a large modern kitchen and a spa like bathroom complete with heated floor, sauna in the shower, and hot tub outside around back. Abigail (the property owner) is a great host. She is very concerned that you enjoy your stay. The house is filled with antiques and since Abigail is a professional interior decorator it is all very comfortable and in keeping with the character of the house. The house has central air that keeps the place nice on hot summer days. Sitting out on the porch swing after dinner is another good way to cool off. We had a campfire one night in the back yard and also used the charcoal grill provided (be sure to bring some charcoal). Abigail will provide you with a list of restaurants in the area if you don't want to cook every night. There is a well stocked general store right next door that is a favorite with the locals for their home made ice cream. The kids will like that. It is delicious and a treat for the whole family. We stayed a week and took advantage every day of Tappan Lake only a few miles away. Tappan Lake is a large lake that allows boats up to 400 horse power so it is a great place to water ski or tube. It also has a sandy beach area complete with concession stand and water park like play area in the lake for the kids to climb on and slide off. We kept our boat at the marina for the week we were there. It makes it really convenient to just hop on the boat and go without having to trailer it every day. They also have gas at the docks so you can fill up before you go out. Hazel's House and Deersville is a great vacation spot in America's heartland. We will return!!!!

We had a delightful stay in Deersville and loved this home. We met and enjoyed talking with Abby and hope to visit again next summer. We have family nearby and were looking for something where we could relax in between visits. This home certainly served the purpose. The rooms were large, the beds were so comfortable, the community was quiet, and the ice cream at the General Store was nothing less than amazing! For those who like to cook, the kitchen was well equipped with pots, pans, and nearly every cooking gadget needed to prepare a nice meal. Staying in this home brought back childhood memories of visiting my grandparents and I instantly knew why Abby felt she had to get this back into her family. We love what she has done with the house and would definitely recommend it to others! We also enjoyed the news clippings that gave us a little history on the house while we were there! If we lived closer, we would take advantage of this more often! Perfect getaway for family and/or friends!

Having the unique country store beside the home was a bonus. The location was perfect for boating fun at Tappen Lake. The kitchen was perfect for our home cooked family meals. Our hostess was attentive to our needs, helpful and understanding when our granddaughter broke a vintage crock! Oops SORRY! Homes like this are true gems and it is nice to see them restored for all to enjoy. The owner has personal history with this home and her passion to share it is most appreciated. Our entire family fell in love with the charm found in Hazel’s House. The bedrooms were spacious, the kitchen- a chef’s delight and the bathroom was beautiful. Abby left an abundance of towels, various toiletries and even scented oils to complete the spa like experience in our “home away from home.” The beds were so very comfortable and the bedding was plush! My husband and I rented a pontoon boat at Tappan Lake Marina with the kids and we took our golden doodle Bentley along for the ride. Bentley was a welcomed guest and it was so nice to hang out on the front porch in the evening with ice cream cones purchased from the general store. My kids thought it was AWESOME to be able to walk RIGHT next door to indulge in the ice cream (at least twice each day.) We visited with the locals and one woman even hung out on the porch to tell us the “history of Deersville.” It was a quick summer weekend getaway that we all enjoyed. I can’t wait to visit again. We can’t thank Abby enough for her hospitality. See ya ‘real soon! :)

The owner did a great job ensuring that everything was satisfactory and meeting our needs! The home was extremely clean and very charming. We had 6 people, and it was very spacious for all of us.
