Laukapu Forest Cottage (LFC) is a spacious studio, vacation-rental cottage handcrafted as a "Work of Heart".
LFC has a well-equipped kitchen, with refrigerator/freezer, electric range/oven, microhood, toaster, coffee and tea making supplies. LFC has a private bathroom, with a tiled shower.
Watch cable TV or connect to the smart LCD TV. There is a phone for local calls. There is high-speed Wi-Fi.
The “back-front” porch is approached from the 70-foot covered “Walkway of the 1,000 Peaces".

A truly memorable, magical place. Well equipped with everything we needed. The heated bed was an especially nice touch. Really appreciated the incredibly thorough, detailed information about the area provided ahead of our stay. Perfect base for exploring Volcanoes NP. Only wish we could have stayed longer!

We had such a wonderful stay. The home is beautifully built, well maintained and we felt right at home. The host gave so many great recommendations and showed how much she cared from our arrival to departure. We highly recommend this home and stay in Volcano being so close to Kīlauea was great. We loved being in the quiet mountains and enjoyed our time around the home with peaceful outdoor space as well. We hope to return again one day!

The cottage is a large studio apartment in the jungle of the town of Volcano. It’s only 5 minutes from the entrance to Volcano NP. The cottage has special craftsman construction. There is a full kitchen, a dining nook, and a comfortable king bed. Catherine is helpful, available, and welcoming. I would stay here again!

This is an absolutely adorable cabin nestled in the woods. From the covered wooden walkway to the perfectly appointed and well stocked cozy cabin itself, we were ecstatic. The owners live next door and are the most wonderful people I’ve encountered. Communication could not be better. Everything from silverware to bedding to electronics are top notch. And the location, 5 minutes from the national park entrance is fantastic. Thank you Kathryn!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the cottage. The hosts were communicative and took care of everything we needed. The space is well-stocked, and it was lovely getting to listen to a thunderstorm while we were happy and dry inside. I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting VNP!

Just our luck to be stuck here during Tropical Storm Hone. This property is a jewel. With 11" inches of rain the first night it kept us safe and warm. Kathryn and Kenneth have put a lot of detail into this cottage. They're great hosts. Thanks for the stay. John and Serena.

Easy check-in, lots of communication with the host. This was exactly as I expected it to be. It was a peaceful stay in a beautifully crafted cottage. To us it felt like “glamping” with a small kitchen and washer and dryer. We slept very well with the nature sounds all around us. If we ever came back to the big island. I would definitely stay again. Thai made our day at the volcano national park very easy and convenient.

This was the most gorgeous cabin! Lots of natural light with many, many windows and skylights. The cabin was filled with everything you could possibly need including sunscreen, toiletries, condiments, ice, and lots of extras! Also the hostess is the nicest lady! Highly recommend!

What a wonderful and unusual experience. The cottage is perfect. It was built by the owner and the design and attention to detail is amazing. It has everything you could possibly want for your stay including great coffee and breakfast items all you need is milk. The host who lives next door meets you at the cottage and is a delight to talk to and get tips for your stay. This cottage is in a rain forest and it does rain pretty much all of the time. But only at the cottage when you take the 5 min drive to the village it was dry. Great location for visiting Volcano National Park we also played golf near by and visited a winery and Orchid store nearby. Highly recommend this cottage for anyone wanting to visit the area.

This rental was amazing. The design of the cottage is really cool and it’s situated back in the woods for peace and quiet. To start, the booking process and communications with the hosts were efficient and effortless. They provided all of the information for the cottage and the area you could possibly need. The cottage is what I call a work of art, or as they call it a work of heart. The craftsmanship of the cottage and its grounds are truly second to none. The unit itself is very well stocked, everything you need for cooking, eating, relaxing & exploring. The bathroom was perfect and well stocked with toiletries. The bed was comfortable & cozy with plenty of blankets and even electric blankets. TV & VCR with CD/DVD's. High speed WIFI. Outside has many great areas to sit, eat or relax. The unit is close to Volcano galleries, eateries and the National park. It was great to meet our host Kathryn, who made sure we had everything we needed and gave us some great background on the cottage built by her husband. She is truly a gracious host and a wealth of local knowledge. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to future stays. Thanks for sharing your cottage with us and anyone lucky enough to get to experience it! Randy & Sue

This is a beautiful property in the Volcano Village area. The home is stunning and well appointed. (Pictures on website are accurate!). Our hosts were welcoming and very accomodating, providing many helpful hints for visting the National Park and surrounding area. We could not have asked for more.

The cottage was perfect for our visit. We visited Volcano NP during the day and went back for sunset at 4:00AM the next day to see the lava flow. Kathryn was a great host and everything worked out perfectly.

Vous trouverez tout ce dont vous avez besoin (café, savon à lessive, collation, savon, etc.). Les propriétaires sont accueillants et prennent soins de bien communiquer avec leurs visiteurs. Vous trouverez à quelques km un food truck thaï et un magasin général. J’y retournerais volontiers!!

This custom cottage was perfect for my husband and me. We spent two nights while visiting Volcano National Park. We dined outdoors on the patio in the rainforest and it was lovely. The bed was comfortable and very much appreciated after a long day of hiking. The shower worked great with great water pressure and temperature. Our host was kind and available if we needed anything. The cottage is well stocked with amenities. Looking forward to coming back again.
