Wake Up Weligama

The hostel has a really friendly, social atmosphere and the staff make you feel welcome from day one. The daily surf sessions is a highlight. Would definitely stay again.

I had a really great stay at Wake Up Weligama. The hostel is super welcoming and social, with clean rooms, AC and hot water. The upstairs common area is amazing: a huge sofa, always windy and cool, perfect to relax and meet people. Big thanks to the volunteers (Abi, Lotte and Lea) for making everything so fun and friendly with surf sessions, dinners and nights together. As a solo traveler, they made it very easy to feel included. Also loved the two dogs, Blacky and Brownie. Highly recommended!

I kept extending to the point I stayed for 3 weeks. This is such a great hostel, run by such a sweet man. Most people who were there at the same time also continued extending so many of us were here for several days or even weeks. A hard place to leave and one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in

The owner tried to push me four times into changing my booking so he did not need to pay for the booking fee. I understand that he wants that, however it made me feel very uncomfortable. The place was also not clean, was cleaned once over three weeks on my own request. I am happy with the other travellers I met, that was great! But there are some improvements possible. Dogs are that are part of the place are barking every night. Keep in mind to bring earplugs
