Disaster from beginning to end with one night out of three stay

When we arrived at the property we had problems getting in but after a while of pulling and pushing the door and twiddling with the lock we gained access only to find that the door would not lock from the inside. I sent a voice mail within minutes of us getting there. This voice message was sent at 15.57. I received a reply at 18.06 saying that they have never had problems before and we have to pull the door while turning the lock. My husband has been in the building trade for over 55 years and was not able to lock the front door. This resulted in a very sleepless night, we were left vulnerable and insecure. The next morning exhausted we decided to leave the property. I messaged the person who replied to my previous text telling them of our situation and that we were leaving the property.l The reply I got was disgusting saying that the door locks as they have spoken to the owner who probably hasn't been to the property to find out if the door lock. I have requested a refund for the two nights that we did not stay there. This hasn't been addressed. There are many other things that were not addressed in the advertisement for the property, the first is that there was no mention of the steepness of the stairs and that the property is not suitable for people with leg problems. The second it was not mentioned that it was a main road and traffic thundered past the front door all night. All in all I would not recommend a stay at this property.

Great location, wonderful views, comfortable and functional cottage.

Well presented, well laid out, easy to use, well equipped, plenty of games and DVD's, comfortable, easy to find and get access. Furniture was comfortable and in good order. Fantastic views and location.

Quite cold and heating controls not user friendly, had to get up in the middle of the night to adjust as the property was so cold. The Aga wasn't at cooking temperature when we arrived, had to phone for advice. The Shower drain hadn't been cleaned out for a while (a lot of hair), so the shower wasn't draining very well.

I thought the property was beautiful, however the cleanliness really let it down.

The property hadn’t been cleaned, we had blood stained sheets, dirty bins, no clean bedding or towels.

Beautiful location in the Holme Valley. Very rural feel. Dog friendly. Excellent access to the Peak District National Park. Loved the Aga.

No teapot - no self-respecting Yorkshire cottage could be without one! Small double bed. Thin partition walls upstairs.

Great Property and Lovely Area!

The cottage was beautiful. Cosy and great facilities. Area is gorgeous with great walks everywhere. Walking to distance to two nice pubs either side of the property. Property is really homely and the kitchen is spectacular.

Main bedroom bed was very old and squeeky. Comfortable mattress but the bed frame was really dated.

Lovely views and cosy kitchen

Aga was lovely, very cosy. Kitchen was very well equipped and the living room and views were great. Also had great walk straight from the house.

The bathroom has been updated since the pictures we saw so there was no bath (we have a toddler) but the new bathroom is very nice so not a problem
