Casal Dragone

We arrived in the afternoon and were greeted by Carmela, the owner. The room was very spacious, and we were lucky to also have a huge terrace with views of the property and the surrounding hills, with Matera as the backdrop. Needless to say that the room was spotless, and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, and Carmela even held the sweets for us as we took a tour to the nearby crypt with 8th century wall paintings (€11/person). As we booked dinner in advance, there were two options: order a-la-cart, or let Carmela decide on the menu. We took the 2nd option and enjoyed every bite. Definitely worth the additional €30/person, including a glass of their wine.

The property is off the main roads, but the way leading there is paved and easy to navigate with a GPS. This was not an issue as far as we are concerned, and it adds a romantic atmosphere to the place.

Ci ritorneremo sicuramente.
