Charm Cottage

Beautifully appointed cottage. Lovely private garden space for outdoor coffee or glass of wine. Centrally located and near pubs and shop.

Some difficulty with the hot water. Instruction book could have given clearer instructions for settings. At the top of a quite steep hill and quite a walk in hot weather to the shop. But that is not any fault of the cottage. No dedicated parking, but the on street was quite easy.

Ideally situated and able to accommodate 4 adults and 2 children

We needed to dry some clothes and there was no airer or washing line facility which made things difficult

Fantastic development of a traditional property. Light and warm. Everything you might need was provided. Very clear instructions

He location is excellent a short walk to the beach and local shops and restaurants.

Having booked through booking.com it turned out the agent was Sykes Holidays which has to be called by phone if issues arise which they did. Firstly the call waiting times varied between a couple of minutes to 20 minutes. Oddly questions about the property were grouped into those they could answer (from a list) and those they would have to speak to the owner about? putting you on hold while they did so. In the latter case the answer was not that helpful and being able to speak to the actual owner would have been better. The main issue was a hard water scaled up dishwasher which was being used to wash the kitchen stuff but with blocked spinners and filters it was virtually useless and the plates, cutlery etc were in effect dirty on arrival. General cleaning was a bit hit and miss but these issues were sorted by buying a dishwasher cleaner and cleaning the Kitchen etc yourself. Complaining to Sykes was routed through a completely useless email and or WhatsApp system. I concluded that their customer complaint and contact system was designed to keep the hirer at arms length and frustrate the process of dealing with complaints. Emails returned and WhatsApp messages unanswered. Unfortunately leaving an honest review becomes the only way of trying to address the issue and hopefully improve the experience for future hirers. Not sure I will be booking with Sykes Holidays again as the customer service experience was not very good and spoilt what was in all other respects a lovely cottage in a great summer location.
