About this house rental

Our recently built Mountain cottage is located within very close walkin distance to nearby Lake Tomahawk, downtown Black Mountain, Montreat and within a 15 minute drive of the Blue Ridge Parkway and downtown Asheville.

There are two bedrooms. One with a King bed, one with a double bed and a pull out couch with memory foam mattress in the living space. Parking for the house is to the left of the house with side steps to the porch. Two cars can fit in this spot

Neighborhood overview:
We are a quick walk to Lake Tomahawk in a quiet residential area with nice neighbors. Downtown Black Mountain is just a short drive with many restaurants and shops. Short distance from Montreat and great mountain hikes or take a 10-15 minute drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway. There is so much to do and see, you will love it!

About this house rental

The cottage was clean, great location, great furnishings, well stocked; everything that would be needed for a short or long stay. Unfortunately, soon after we checked in my wife started having breathing difficulties (we chose this cottage because of its location and no pets policy). We opened the windows and decided to walk to downtown Black Mountain; she cleared up soon after we started our walk. When we arrived back later in the evening she again started having difficulty breathing (she did take two different allergy medications but they did no good). After a difficult night for her I contacted the owners the next morning and informed them we would be checking out and would not stay the last 2 nights of our 3 night stay. The owners did offer the cottage next door as it did not have carpet, but it would not be available until 3 pm. Given my wife's condition, and not knowing what was causing her breathing issues (something in carpet, cleaning products, other cause) we informed the owner that it would be best if we returned home.

We enjoyed the house and the amenities. Everything was clean and all appliances worked as described. We enjoyed our stay until Hurricane Helene showed up towards the last few days. We were never in any danger and far away from the flooding, there was no damage, no leaks, no trees down, so the property survived the storm. We will return for a longer visit next year.

We traveled up to Black Mountain from Charlotte to visit our daughters at Warren Wilson College. We were also able to go into Asheville for a dinner and enjoy a walk around Black Mountain. The photos are accurate, but I think the property is actually even a little better than could be conveyed in a picture. Really, a perfect little property at great price point. We hope to return.

This home is even better in person than in the photos! My sister and I stayed here briefly while attending a family event in the area. When we arrived, we were delighted by how clean and well appointed the house was. The owner provided clear directions for the house rules, cleanout, etc. and was responsive to questions we had before arrival. Our trip was, unfortunately, hampered by the Microsoft/ClowdStrike IT outage which canceled and delays flights across the country in July 2024, so we were only able to enjoy part of the stay we booked - we did not get to fully explore the area which would have been nice. But the neighborhood was quiet and convenient to everywhere we needed to get to. Would love to stay here again should we return to the area in the future.

Cute little house that has everything you need. It was very clean. A few minute walk to a small lake with trail around it. You can fish, play tennis/pickleball or go to the community pool. Close to downtown shops and restaurants. We’ll be back next year!

Perfect for the two of us, and would also be great for family with 2 small/1 teenage children. Enjoyed morning walks around Lake Tomahawk, 2 blocks away. We didn’t cook, buts there were lots of dishes and cookware. Nice restaurants in town. We used this location as a hub for Biltmore, Blue Ridge Parkway (favorite overlooks being Craggy Gardens and Mt. Pisgah), waterfalls near Brevard, and Chimney Rock. If we return to Asheville area, we’ll seek out this specific cabin.

Cozy little house. I sat outside on the covered porch a lot. Had a storm come through and take the power out for a little while. My daughter brought me some coffee from a local shop. Walked around Tomahawk lake, and town. Very nice place, enjoyed the area, it was just a short visit to pick up my daughter from college. I would like to stay longer next time with my wife.

What an adorable place in the quaint town of Black Mountain! We just loved the quiet area that was still walkable to downtown and Lake Tomahawk as well as a short drive to amazing hiking in Montreat and breathtaking views in the Blue Ridge Parkway. This darling cottage had everything we needed for our stay, including dishes, cookware, bakeware and even some bonus spices!! The master bed was comfortable and the decor of the home was trendy and tasteful. I highly recommend this adorable cottage. Hosts were very responsive and didn’t leave a chore list a mile long- LOL! While in Black Mountain be sure to stop at Black Mountain Cider + Mead and Oak and Grist Distillery for amazing local libations.

From arrival to departure...this was a lovely home to return to after a days adventure/meetings. Well apportioned and easy to use kitchen, comfortable beds, nice water pressure, and quality linens...just like home. Good communication and easy check in/out. Quick access to I40 to go into Asheville for meetings, plus ability to walk into Black Mt village for early morning coffee or dinner was so convenient. Evening walks around Tomahawk lake and a days hike on the Mountains to Sea Trail just a short drive away made for a perfect visit to Western NC. Highly recommend.

This is our third time staying at this lovely home. Although the check in details were not ready when we arrived and the cleaning had not been processed yet due to a mix up in scheduling, the owner quickly took care of it (as in just a couple minutes someone was there to clean - literally! Amazing!) and everything was as wonderful as it always has been. He did everything possible to make it right. It was done so quickly that by the time we rode to Starbucks for a coffee after the long drive and hit the grocery store for a few supplies, the home was ready and in great shape. This property is not only great for location and a beautiful place to stay, but it also has great owners managing it who care about those staying in their home. I’ve already booked my fourth stay here!

Our Christmas stay at the cozy red cottage was perfect. We were comfortable in spite of the arctic temperatures and wanted for nothing. The hosts had even thought to put a Christmas tree in the cottage for us to enjoy! The property is very clean, nicely furnished and easily accessible to everything Black Mountain has to offer as well as easy access to Asheville. We can wait to return.
