About this house rental

Breakwater House is a spacious contemporary home offering direct waterfront location in quiet, residential Pigeon Cove neighborhood just north of the village of Rockport. Enjoy the cool ocean breezes and watch sailboat races and lobster boats from large deck overlooking the beautiful, rocky coast. Hike to Halibut Point State Park or visit the picturesque village of Rockport. Well equipped, including WIFI, fireplace, and air conditioned bedrooms.

Upon entering this two level home, you will be struck by the wall of windows that frame 180 degree views of the open Atlantic. Relax in one of the living areas with your choice of cozying up in front of the fireplace or TV - or both!

The spacious kitchen provides all the essentials for cooking your favorite New England classics, whether it is freshly caught lobster or the delicacy of steamer clams. The dining area (seats 8 comfortably) enjoys the water views and the open floor plan allows even those toiling in the kitchen to experience the beauty of the ocean, making any chores much more delightful!

Sliders lead to the very large deck which can accommodate everyone. Gaze out at the stunning ocean views, head down the stone steps that lead directly to the ocean and the Atlantic Path which takes you around the point to explore the waterfront of this charming and historic neighborhood. Off of the breakfast nook behind the kitchen is a gravel patio offering a sheltered space for grilling up your favorites, as well as a seating area to enjoy your al fresco meals.

The main floor includes a well stocked library, with TV, as well as an office area. A bedroom with twin beds, a full laundry , and a bathroom with a shower are all on this floor.

The remaining bedrooms are on the second floor. Both are ensuite, and have amazing water views and access to a waterfront deck. Both offer air conditioning. One has a full sized bed, and the other is a queen. Each bedroom has a bathroom with a shower.

Bring your bikes and kayaks to enjoy the best of the glorious Cape Ann coastline. Rockport offers a few convenient public launching areas for your kayaks. Or head into downtown Rockport and check out the local art galleries, many great restaurants, shops and the world class Shalin Liu Performance Center.

Take a morning walk through the nearby Halibut Point State Park, one of the few places in the world where you can stand at the lip of a fresh water quarry and see the ocean just beyond - it is spectacular! Or just sit on your deck and admire the views of sailboat races and the three local lighthouses. Cape Ann Whale Watch offers incredible tours to see the whales on Stellwagen Bank. Or go deep sea fishing, sailing on an historic refurbished schooner, and cap the day off with a cup of classic New England clam chowder.

Easy day trips by car, or local commuter rail, include the historic city of Salem which is home to the wonderful Peabody Essex Museum. Boston is also just 43 miles away by car or train.

Embark on your classic New England retreat at this stunning oceanfront home away from home!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Breakwater House. The seaside coastal view was enthralling and gorgeous Halibut State Park was walking distance, or a short drive with parking available. The home is spacious and comfortable. Our adult daughter stayed and college friends stopped by for cocktails and dinner. We used the home telescope for close up views of Jupiter rising, Saturn’s rings and the full moon. Cormorants and other birds and sea life visible from the deck. The landscaped lawn perfect for a game of corn hole and for quietly reading in the Adirondack chairs. Host was friendly and helpful. Nearby Gloucester and Schooner weekend were lovely and enjoyed a foodie trip up to Portland. A beautiful location! A slice of paradise.

The natural beauty and wonder of the Atlantic Ocean on full display on an 180 degree canvas. We were just so in awe with the scenery that we didn’t leave the home and grounds except for food and supplies. Family and friends visited and admired the quiet beauty. The home is perfect two bedrooms upstairs with deck over looking the ocean and rocks. First floor open concept provided views of the cove from every corner. Relaxed friendly host available for any questions. Definitely an experience we will always remember.

This home is on a perfect location in Rockport, a special location for our family. We picked it because of our prior visits to Rockport. The host was very responsive and the property was clean upon arrival. But, there were a few unexpected snags. The property reports having AC, which was an important consideration in making our reservation as we have a family member with a medical condition that doesn't tolerate heat well. However, the AC is only available in the two upper bedrooms. We were in Rockport in mid-July and experienced multiple days of 90 weather. As a result, the house was very hot during most of our stay. The house has spectacular entertaining space on the first floor with beautiful views of the water. However, the kitchen and bathrooms are quite dated (40 years old?). There are some beautiful details throughout the house, including hand painted wallpaper and lovely artwork. The kitchen is not well-equipped. This may not be an issue for many vacationers, but we are a family that enjoys cooking. So, if you are a cook, you may want to bring some additional pots and pans to supplement what is available.
