About this house rental
"Carolina On My Mind" is a beautifully renovated one level home, no stairs, that is only an 8 minute walk to beautiful Folly Field Beach (the best beach on the island). Community is directly off bike path. Completely open floor plan for entertaining. The fenced backyard is a great place to relax with its private pool, sunny patio with tons of seating and sounds of the gentle water flowing from the spa into the pool. The pool is approximately 30 feet by 12 feet and can be **heated during non summer months for an additional charge. The spa may be heated any time during the year for an additional charge. **The tanning ledge is perfect for entertaining young children. Home is very close to the Bike/Walking Path that leads to the beach or the path around the island. Enjoy a nice evening by the pool with a fire (propane) or in your private spa. Community connects to the bike path which connects to several restaurants, bars, putt putt golf, arcade game room.
All siding and doors have been replaced and freshly painted interior and exterior along with the new pool and spa.
Upon entering, you experience a beautiful tiled open foyer that leads into a large open living area which includes the dining, kitchen and family room.
The family room hosts plenty of seating to include a large sectional, recliner and a office nook with desk. It also displays a brick wood burning fireplace with a flat screen TV, Hulu live TV, Wireless Internet, and a Blu-Ray DVD player (or streaming smart tv), that can be viewed from the entire main living area. The washer and dryer are right off the family room, with a separate entrance.
The Dining room consists of a nice farm style table with seating for six, plus a breakfast bar with seating for four. The kitchen hosts granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, backslash, over the range microwave, Convection Oven, Keurig and brew coffeemakers, Instant Pot, and everything you need for a stress free vacation.
Master en-suite consists of a flat screen TV, with Hulu live, King Tempurpedic bed, hardwood floors with french doors leading out to the private backyard to enjoy your morning coffee by the pool/spa. The master bath consists of double sink vanity, oversized shower with bench.
Front Bedroom#2 has a queen bed, flat screen TV, hulu live, hardwood floors, large closet with shelving.
Back Bedroom #3 has a queen bed, flat screen TV, hulu live, Laminate wood floors, large closet with built in storage.
Bedroom #4 has two sets of bunk beds, flat screen TV, hulu live tv, hardwood floors, large closet with storage.
All bedrooms have adequate storage and ceiling fans.
Hall bathroom has a granite counter sink and large shower.
Large fenced backyard includes a in-ground gunite pool/spa, an outdoor covered lighted pergola with fan for entertaining with Sofa Seating and two swivel chairs, propane firepit for chilly evenings, umbrella table with six seats for dining or watching TV poolside. Another four seater table & chairs, plus several additional seating areas and a gas grill for all your outdoor cooking needs. The backyard also contains an outdoor shower for returning from the beach and washing off the sand from you and your toys.
The Backyard is perfect for family gatherings in the pool, corn hole, horseshoes, or letting your furry well behaved family member have room to roam. Bikes, beach chairs, beach wagons, beach toys, games, DVD's, and books are all available for your use.
**Winter Only - Pool & Spa can be heated for an additional fee of 750.00/week to a max pool temp of 88 degrees**
Spa heat max 102 degrees and can be heated separately for 200.00 for the week. We do not heat the pool between Memorial Day to Mid September.

Our family had a great time on our vacation! We brought my mom, our two kids, and our two dogs. It was the perfect distance from the beach, about a 10 minute walk. We biked and made good use of all the beach chairs, beach toys, and the wagon. The pool was amazing! We spent to much time there each day. We hope to come back next year!

The home was lovely. Well appointed kitchen with some nice extras. The house was decorated beautifully and was so comfortable. The outdoor area was just amazing. The pool and spa were perfect and we loved the screened in pergola. Just a short 10 min walk to the beach too. We had a great time and felt refreshed after our stay here. The owners kept us informed of all planned pool cleaners, landscapers and trash pick up schedules. They were very easy to contact and quick to respond to any questions. We would definitely stay here again.

Had a great family stay over spring break. Appreciated all the beach gear, pool toys and bicycles. The house is a short walk to the beach, close to grocery and other amenities, and has a well stocked kitchen.

Initially the owners were very nice and responsive and the house seemed great. However, weeks after we paid our final payment, and just 2 weeks before our trip, they provided us a previously undisclosed rental agreement, which included video surviellence of the "private" backyard/pool area (not disclosed in listing as required by VRBO), limits on visitors, the requirement for a credit card and a million other elements of fine print. The way in which this was handled led us to feel trapped in a rental we didn't want.
We did go, and generally were left to enjoy our stay. However, on our last day there the owners called us frantically to question us as to whether we turned off the irrigation system (never touched it). Then the day we left we were accused of a mark on a comforter, too much dog hair in the house (we had vacuumed the night before leaving and had paid dog fees), missing towels (folded and clean left with their beach towels) and a multiple other issues all of which we felt were inaccurate accusations. These were based on the report from their cleaner, once the owners arrived the issues were dropped. Seemingly supporting the inaccuracy of those accusations.
In regards to the house, we found it filled to the brim with "decor," in need of lots of general maintenance, the grill was filled with mouse poop/food remains, we had to replace the propane, tons of flies outside, the cleanliness was only surface deep, the underneath of beds wasn't clean and packed with bins of stuff, and generally a cramped square footage (we had 4 adults 1 kid). There is no bathtub and the amount of breakable decor could make having very young kiddos a there a challenge.
Overall the house was not worth the cost, and it was clear we were unwanted guests in their private home.
