Above and beyond

There are two outstanding features of this property. The facilities and the host. The property is effectively half a house. It's downstairs has an open plan livining room/dining room/kitchen, which is well furnished. The kitchen has a full oven, hobs, microwave, dishwasher, toaster and fridge. It was well equipped with cooking utensils, crockery, nice glasses, cafetiere, tea, coffee, sugar, cooking oil and a range of condiments. There is a smart TV downstairs. Wifi worked fine. The upstairs has a large, clean, comfortable bed and a bathroom with a full size bath, plus soap, shampoo and even toothpaste and spare toothbrushes. The host, Linda, really goes above and beyond and adds extras that I've honestly never had elsewhere. A bottle of wine and sandwiches on arrival, a basket with a range of sweet and savoury snacks, biscuits, orange juice, butter, milk, a loaf of bread. She was very kind and helpful on arrival but otherwise very respectful and unobtrusive. One morning it was very frosty and when I went to go to work I found that she's scraped the frost from my car windows. A genuine first for me. Car parking is on-site easy and ample. Finally, the property is very convenient for the military base, only half a mile away.

The only thing that might mean this property might not suit everyone is the stairs, if stairs are a problem for you. So not so much a "didn't like" but a physical limitation.

Extremely thoughtful and helpful landlady

Every aspect of our stay was considered. Extremely helpful landlady who couldn’t have been more helpful and thoughtful. Snacks left and lifts offered which was great.

Traffic outside was a little noisy if you aren’t used to sleeping near a relatively busy road.

We had a lovely stay and would definitely stay there again

Linda supplied our choice of bread, butter, marmalade and would have supplied juice, had we wanted it, for breakfast. There were lots of little extras which made us feel very welcome. Wifi was great and furniture was comfortable.

Nothing really. I guess it would have been a bonus to have the garden right outside the accommodation, but it wasn’t a problem.

Home from Home

Location was very good, a home from home. When working away its always difficult to find suitable accommodation. The little touches provided by the host was above and beyond, Liz had prepared a lovely fruit platter with and a nice bottle of white wine to name but a few. Liz even met me to escort me to the accommodation as I was new to the area.

Perfect getaway!

Linda and Tony are the most wonderful hosts. Going above and beyond on every front. The apartment is gorgeous and so well equipped. They really have thought of everything. Access to a private garden is perfect especially if travelling with a pooch. Amazing location for Hereford and weddings at Brinsop. Highly recommend and we will be back. Thank you again.

Ideal location for visiting local National Trust properties, and of course the wedding location on the Saturday evening. Good to travel through Herefordshire and view the beautiful countryside, as we had never been before.

We received a warm welcome for Linda our host. She provided us with a key the the property. On entering The Retreat Linda showed us where everything was. From bread to a bottle of wine was provided for us along with chocolates and other little goodies.

A comfortable,generous, thoughtful stay

There were lots of very thoughtful, generous additions which made us feel welcome and pampered. Our dietary needs were met without any trouble and our host was welcoming and concerned that we had all we needed. The evening meal was delicious and made our first night easy after a long day traveling. I feel this is a very well equipped, comfortable place to stay and very good value for money.
