Chamathka homestay

The breakfasts were the best we had on our entire trip. Really special and served on the lovely balcony with views into the jungle. All major sites are within easy walking distance and lots of great cafes.

Parfait, hôtes très accueillants et gentils. Bien situé pour le Adam’s peak et le nine arches bridge. Un petit déjeuné incroyable en terrasse. On peut également laver les vêtements.

Właścicielka jest niesamowicie opiekuńczą i pomocną osobą. Poleciła mi dobry lokal na zjedzenie obiadu, miejsca z fajnym masażem, zaaranżowała tuk tuka na początek szlaku na Ella Rock. Na dodatek przygotowała mi owoce na śniadanie, bo opuszczalam homestay o 3 w nocy. Wstała też w środku nocy, żeby odprowadzić mnie do ulicy mówiąc, że to jej obowiązek żebym czuła się bezpieczna w ciemności, chociaż absolutnie tego nie oczekiwałam. Pokój wyposażony we wszystko czego potrzebowałam, przepyszne śniadania i fajna lokalizacja. Wzięłam też udział w zajęciach gotowania, które organizuje Ranji i posiłek, który przygotowaliśmy całą grupą był jednym z najlepszych jakie jadłam na Sri Lance. Polecam z całego serca 🤍

We booked this family homestay mainly because of the rave reviews about the tranquillity, the wonderful food prepared by the hostess, and the friendliness of the family. The reality was somewhat different! Extensive work was being carried out building a new bathroom directly beneath our bedroom and fitting a new tin roof, both on the family home. The banging, sawing and drilling was so loud we had to go out to a local cafe to get some peace. The neighbours were also drilling until 8pm one night! When we complained about the noise we were told, "lots of people are working on their properties!' Maybe, but not directly beneath paying guests!! The hostess no longer cooks dinners, although you can join one of her cookery classes. We passed the kitchen one night and 12 people were crowded around. We didn't try it, so can't comment. Breakfast was plentiful and varied but, unfortunately, served cold - omlettes, pancakes, French toast, onion toasties! Maybe that's how it's eaten in SL but not to our taste. The fruit, however, was tasty and the tea, hot. The room was basic but, for the price, as expected. The bed comfy, the shower tepid, with no controls as broken off, or any pressure. The window in the bathroom didn't shut, so bugs came in. The uneven, broken steps up to the property were dangerous, especially when wet, as there is no rail. We would not recommend this homestay. There are so many to choose from in the area, at the same price, with stunning views. To not even be told about the building work prior to our stay, or offered an apology, is just too disrespectful. Maybe the cookery classes provide a better income than the homestay for this family??
