Disgusting, unsanitary, and unhealthy rodent poop covered bedding - owner won't give refund

The property manager was there at the arranged time, This is the absolute only good thing about this property.

I will never book through booking.com again on account of their lack of responsiveness and accountability. This property has good reviews, but I would caution strongly against staying here if you value comfort and above all health and safety. Mouse / rat feces IN THE BABY CRIB THEY SUPPLIED FOR ME. I booked this property 2 months in advance of my stay. At the time I requested a baby crib. I was told this was no problem. I messaged a few days ahead. Again, told this was no problem. We arrived and met Albon, the property manager/owner. He showed us the place, which looked pretty run down but appeared visibly clean. Also, it had the strong odor of chemical cleaners. I asked where the baby crib was. They didn't have it, and made an excuse that the neighbor also had a baby and needed a crib. He said they had another and my husband had to get it out of storage. I opened the pack and there were multiple mouse droppings inside the carrier and on the baby crib mattress. This is an immediate no-stay situation for me. I am absolutely not going to have my 1 year old child stay in a place with mouse / rat feces on the bedding. Moreover, I am pregnant, and don't want myself and my unborn child exposed to diseases spread with rodent feces. I immediately whatsapped Albon and told him the situation. He apologized. I told him we absolutely could not stay there and I told him I expected a full refund. He agreed. We left immediately. Nothing had been used. The owner could have re-rented this apartment out to other clients, and probably did! We were absolutely SCRAMBLING trying to find a place to stay last minute. The owner claims I didn't arrive there to check in... This owner will not respond to messages on booking.com. He switched some function on whatsapp so that I cannot even see nor take screenshots of our previous conversation. He won't refund the stay at all. Booking.com is the most irresponsible party in this scenario.

Characterful stone cottage an easy walk from Gordes

Great location in a beautiful town. We were able to check in a little earlier to stow our luggage which was very helpful. Easy walk back into Gordes. Amazing garden and cute kitchen.

It is a little disjointed, bathroom is up outdoor stairs, toilet downstairs near the bedroom but no handwashing facility…unless you wander upstairs or across to the kitchen.

A dream stay in the heart of Provence with unforgettable views, comfort, and hospitality.

We absolutely loved everything about this house. It was truly beautiful and offered the full Provençal experience. The view over the Luberon was breathtaking—something you don’t easily forget. The house was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, especially in the kitchen. There were even little extras like coffee and other essentials ready to use. The host was incredibly kind and welcoming; he gave us a warm introduction to the property and even offered us a bottle of wine upon arrival, which was a lovely touch. The garden was spacious and perfect for enjoying breakfast every morning, and the kids loved playing outside. The private parking was a great convenience, and the pool was entirely ours during the stay, since no other guests were around in the other apartments. It was a peaceful, relaxing, and truly unforgettable experience. We are definitely planning to come back to Gordes and to this house!

Magical stay at Gordes

This has been one of the most magical places we have stayed in. A 10 minute walk to Gordes, you have your own private house in the countryside to enjoy a true provencal experience. We will definitely come back.

Although the host do not speak English, he was very pleasant. The accommodation has a large terrace and is only a 10-minute walk from the center of Gordes.

The accommodation could use a general cleaning, for example, the terrace was dirty from the surrounding trees. Nevertheless, I would recommend this accommodation and will come back sometime.

Convenient & clean... but quirky.

The host met us on time and provided the keys. Communication prior to arrival was excellent. The place was quiet and clean. We did use the pool -- and that was great. We stayed just one night and didn't make use of the entire space i.e., we used just one bedroom (2 are there) and we didn't use the kitchen or living space. The location is 0.5 miles from town. We were traveling with backpacks, hiking from village to village so the 0.5 mile distance from town is fine... just bring a flashlight if you plan to walk back after dark because it is really dark after the sun sets.

The bedrooms are tiny, occupying two floors of one small building. So don't expect to leave your luggage out anywhere. The two stacked bedrooms share bathroom facilities: the upstairs one had the shower and a sink, and the downstairs had the toilet. So, outdoor, uneven stone steps need to be navigated as needed. It's workable but was unexpected and you need to take care traversing the steps. It's a quirky space. For example, the bathroom sink (upstairs bedroom) is very small, and the shelf and medicine cabinet over it makes it impossible to wash one's face over the sink. You just cannot put your face over the sink.. your forehead maybe. Quirky. I think our needs were different and our short stay meant that we didn't really take advantage of all the facility had to offer.

The location was just what we wanted. It was outside of town with fabulous views of the country side but within easy walking distance. And the pool was the best way to cool off after a day in the town.

We had a great stay overall.

the property is 12 minutes walking or 4 minutes driving distance from the center of Gordes. We were warmly greeted by Ladio who came out to the road to receive us when we had trouble finding the exact location. He also showed us where to get groceries and to park. We went to the grocery store in Gordes after the day crowds left when parking was more available. The apartment has two bedrooms and two bathrooms with sufficiently supplied kitchen and comfortable living room with AC which cooled the temperature down in the hot night in July. We also enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. The view of the valley from the swimming pool was breathtaking.

A very beautiful location. A reasonable walk into the town of Gordes. A very nice kitchen with a large refrigerator/freezer, including an ice maker.

Better check in directions & more clear identification/signage of which building was our apartment would have been helpful. Funky lay out - one bedroom with sink, shower, bed (no toilet) with separate outside entrance upstairs, 2nd bedroom separate entrance with toliet but no sink, 3rd entrance into kitchen, full bath & seating area. The hot tub did not warm up adequately. It would maximum reach 35 degrees Celsius so it was too cool, especially to use for an early season rental.

Beautiful!

Beautiful little gem of a property, walking distance from Gordes. We stayed in the little house, which is small but absolutely gorgeous and fine for a couple, or family for a short stay. It is built into the rock, with a super terrace and fabulous hot tub with lights which was a big hit with the kids! The main bedroom is upstairs with huge windows all around to see the beautiful views. This room has a shower and sink. The toilet is downstairs along with a sofa bed - small but ok for two kids - and a small but very well equipped kitchen area. There is also a heated swimming pool with an abri so useable all year, I swam in late October. All in all a super little place with very helpful and accommodating owner, we will definitely return!

The only downsides were the stairs between the two parts of the house being outside, and the toilet being downstairs, meaning you have to go outside to use the loo in the night. Also the locks on the doors were only operated by a key, of which there was only one, which made it a bit tricky with the kids in the downstairs with the toilet - you’d have to lock them in from outside, which means they then couldn’t get out in an emergency, or leave it unlocked, which I didn’t feel comfortable doing even though it’s probably a very safe place. Might be worth just changing this so you can unlock from inside without a key.

Very good

We rented the room listed as Vacation Home. With an easy 10 minute walk to the village centre, the location is ideal for exploring the area. The house has a lot of comfort and a large kitchen. It did not feel like it was a home filled with whatever people did not want, which is often the case. There was enough of everything. I liked the morning view best of the valley below while sipping fresh coffee from the super fast coffeemaker. I really appreciated that the house had the basics like milk, coffee, oil, salt and pepper already stocked.

The downstairs bedroom can be a little cold and damp but if you air it out during the day this is not an issue .
