Belle Etoile Villas

This was the perfect accomodation for a family looking to not be right in the tourist hot spots - we wanted a base where we could still access authentic restaurants and sights, but we didn’t want to be in Oia or Fira. This hotel has excellent views of the eastern ocean side of Santorini and is a 15 min (up hill) walk to Immervigli where there are plenty of restaurants and shops. Easy 10 min walk downhill back to the hotel on the way home. There is also a supermarket a 5 min walk from the hotel which is really helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable with an amazing view of the pool and ocean. This was a great place to stay in Santorini if you want an authentic less touristy option! The host was so kind and helpful - she arranged taxi’s for us and gave great restaurant recommendations. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Given we were a family with a young baby, it would have been good if the breakfast was available before 8am - but that’s just because our baby wakes at 7am! Other than that, I can’t find a single fault with this hotel.

It was quiet and clean. The lady was very helpful and packed us a sandwich, fruit and hard boiled eggs for our early flight out since we were missing the included breakfast.

We would have preferred to stay a lil closer to the restaurants and bars. It was a bit of a hike uphill with no sidewalks and poor lighting.

The rooms are very comfortable, spacious, clean and modern with a nice living room and kitchen area. The private balconies and jacuzzi with a view on the sea are a real plus. Calm pool and outdoor with a beautiful view.

Hotel is close to Imerovigli, however if you don’t have a car, it can make the walk dangerous along the busy narrow road. More sunbeds and chairs are needed at the pool area.

The island itself is absolutely wonderful, but unfortunately, our experience at this hotel left us with mixed feelings. From the very beginning, the hospitality was disappointing. We arrived around 8:00 a.m., and we had been told that the reception would open at 8:30. In reality, we had to wait quite a long time before someone finally came to open it. What was even more disappointing was that our room was already ready, yet instead of simply welcoming us, the receptionist immediately tried to charge us an additional €10 for every hour of early check-in. It felt less like Greek hospitality and more like an attempt to make extra money at every opportunity. The next day was my birthday, and flowers were delivered to the hotel. Unfortunately, they were simply left on the table without even being put into a vase. As a result, the flowers quickly wilted, and what was supposed to be a lovely birthday surprise was completely spoiled. The room itself was also not quite as comfortable as expected. The attic area, where our two children slept, was extremely stuffy and poorly ventilated. There was no air conditioning upstairs, only a small standing fan, so the children were uncomfortable throughout the night. The breakfast was another disappointment. The selection was quite limited, and some of the products did not seem particularly fresh. Overall, the stay was not terrible, but the hotel looks considerably better in the photos than it does in reality. The pool, in particular, was much smaller than expected and the water was rather cloudy. Unfortunately, despite the beautiful location and the wonderful island itself, I would not choose to stay at this hotel again. There are certainly better ways to offer a more welcoming and thoughtful level of hospitality.
