Alcheringa Cottage Amazing Location with views

Beautiful location up a long drive, watch out for wombats at night😀 House was comfortably furnished with good quality items, plus DVDs and books. Bubbly and chocolates waiting for us was a pleasant extra. Upstairs lounge area was delightful

Being very picky here because it was great but small details need attending to eg batteries in some remotes absent or not working and a couple of light globes out. Only 3 table knives in kitchen. An oven glove would have been handy.

Beautiful, secluded location and lovely cottage! Internet was great, which is especially important when phone coverage is not reliable (note to self: go with a mobile company that uses the Telstra network when travelling!) Rooms were comfy, fabulous having a full-sized bathroom each. Also a full-sized fridge and well-equipped kitchen. The little (tiny!) tree frog that hung around in my bathroom also obviously enjoyed the facilities. The owner was both polite in leaving us to ourselves and thoughtful in checking we were ok after a couple of days of severe storms. There are so many things we loved that I could go on forever, but I'll finish with the spectacular views, abundant wildlife and the two standoffish alpacas whom we (re)named Brian (the dark, larger one) and Kenneth (smaller, champagne coloured.) We wish we were still there enjoying their apathy 😅

Very, very minor... I wouldn't call them problems, just things that could have been a tiny bit better. 1. No washing machine (I knew that when I booked - it would just be a bonus) 2. There were no instructions on using the TV: there were five remote controls, and turning on the TV did nothing. By trial and error, I realised I had to turn on the internet TV box (remote with something like Spirit written on it) then turn on the TV (one of the ?Panasonic remotes). After that, use only the internet box remote for changing channels etc. Best tip is leave the internet box on and use the TV remote only to turn the TV screen off and on and not touch it otherwise. 3. Instructions on Booking.com re collecting keys isn't accurate - it says you pick them up from the "location" when actually you pick them up a 5 to 10 min drive away in town. The email from the management company explaining the process went to my spam, so I had to ring. Last thing is absolutely not a complaint as it's part of the property's charm, but be prepared for a lengthy, windy, steep hilly road through the largely beautiful rainforest property up to the cottage, and occasional blockage by inquisitive cattle! 🙃
