Vila Brava Cottage

The views were spectacular from the apartment both inside and from all areas around the apartment. Sunrises and sunsets it was just amazing. The apartment was spacious and clean with plenty of storage facilities and the kitchen had everything you needed to cook with. The shower was good and there was no problem when we requested a change of bedlinen and towels after we had been there for a week. All queries were answered immediately by a fantastic lady who was so helpful and gave lots of helpful hints where to go. Some water and wine was also left in the fridge which was a bonus. There was a swimming pool which we didn't use that much but once again had fabulous views and plenty of sun loungers. Our sea view apartment also had a lovely sunbathing area above with gorgeous views of the coastline. The area was quiet and calm except for the cockerels and dogs in the mornings.

There were small things really but not having the aircon in the bedroom just in the main living room caused sleepless nights because of the heat and after receiving some nasty bites we weren't keen on leaving windows open. The bed was a little hard and the couch in the sitting room was lumpy and got uncomfortable. The apartment though clean could do with some upgrading. The TV didn't have any streaming apps like Netflix and it would have been nice to be able to sit down after a busy day and watch a film or series of choice. The TV did have some english/US channels though. Be aware that there are approx 70 steps to the apartment, not a problem going down to it but when heading back to the carpark would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. Vila Brava complex is located on a steep hill so your hill starts need to be good but there is designated parking which was brilliant. Be sure that you get a car that has enough power to get up those hills and the many other hills on the island, ours was very basic and we ended up going on several bus rides rather than doing a car journey as it was a struggle getting up the hills.

Great spot if you're traveling by car! The location is really convenient, and the views are absolutely fantastic. The appartment is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay.

The place was lovely and very convenient. It was well equipped with most things we might need and there were some nice personal touches. The host was proactive with instructions and the check-in was pretty straightforward. The location was very peaceful with great views. We especially enjoyed having our breakfast at the "balcony" every morning while enjoying the view. Clean apartment. Dedicated parking spots. Bonus points for the 2 adorable kitties keeping us company throughout.

Not really a con but you kind of need a car for this location. This is quite common in the island when you leave Funchal but I guess if you are an avid hiker you can hack it. We were more than relieved to have our car. Also, this is probably because it was the start of the tourist season (April) but the swimming pool didn't seem like it was ready to be used. But we were to busy hiking anyway so we didn't investigate further.

The view was amazing, and everything was well organized. The house was fully equipped for a few days of vacations. Overall experience was ok.

The house was cold, the water in the shower wasn't warm enough for shower, there was water from condensation running of the floor and there wasn't a mop to clean
