Taranto makes a great base for discovering both South and North Puglia if you don't want to keep moving around every 2-3 nights. We spent 16 nights here and easily drove to Matera, Alberobello, Locorotondo, Martina Franca, Bari, Polignano a Mare, Monopoli, Gallipoli, Porto Cesareo, Torre dell'Orso and multiple beautiful beaches. The location of the apartments is perfect: close to the main shopping street, the restaurants in the Old Town on the island, the seaside promenade but also to small eateries, Lidl, the daily market, pharmacies and even the mechanic was within walking distance when our rental car had to be fixed. Pamela is a great host: kind, prompt and helpful when asked but not intrusive. The apartment we got was a renovated and stylish, typical Italian home with all the necessary amenities that made us feel like home. Bonus point for the modern elevator that was a great help with the luggage, shopping bags and groceries. Despite being centrally located we always found a parking place close by in the cheap fee zone.

Unfortunately the restaurant did not seem to be operating which we regretted looking at the photos of all those delicious dishes. The terrace was not as inviting as on the photos.

Big apartment, super clean (which doesn’t happen often), and well air-conditioned. Great host — good and fast communication, and excellent problem-solving when needed. Everything needed for a short stay can be found in the apartment. I would return and recommend it to my friends visiting the town :)

We did not like the pillows (too big and hard), but the problem was resolved the same day. Unfortunately, the washing machine was broken and removed during our stay. The host kindly offered to take care of the laundry (much appreciated!), but due to our timing and tight schedule, we had to hand wash daily — all the necessary materials for that were available. That said, I’m sure it was only a temporary issue. 😉 Due to the central position, parking near the apartment is paid, but a free parking zone is just two blocks away (a few minutes’ walk — very doable).

The A/C unit is in the hall and doesn't reach the bedrooms. I had a really hard time sleeping because of this. And couple small things in the bathroom need to be fixed.
