Very comfortable stay

We were overall satisfied with Pinguino B&B. The owners were very hospitable, the parking lot was super useful and the room was spotlessly clean.

We travelled during off season (December) and the restaurant was closed. We would have appreciated if they had informed us in advance about that as we had planned to have dinner there after checking in.

Comfortable stay, great staff and restaurant!

The staff were incredibly friendly and the restaurant was wonderful. We had the eggplant parmesan and a pasta sampler. We even got to watch them make fresh ravioli! Breakfast was homemade and there were plenty of pastry options. The room was comfortable, made better by the electric blinds to keep it nice and dark. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Wonderful stay!

The shower did not drain quick enough to keep up with the water pressure, which led to some overflow. We had to either keep the water pressure low or shut off the water for a bit to let it drain.

Just an amazing experience all around. Wonderful staff. Walter was incredibly helpful with everything we asked of him. The room is spacious. The location is wonderful with short walks to picturesque views. Most recommended!

Lovely place

The B&B was nice, clean, great location near Ravello. The staff was very friendly and polite , very receptive and accommodating. The B&B was situated above a restaurant belonging to them which was where we had our breakfast.

The only complaint I have was that the bed was very very firm.

The host was very friendly, helpful and acomodating. The room was clean and the smell of freshly baked pizza from the restaurant below was amazing! There is free onsite parking so no need to worry about getting a spot on the street.

I recommend!

I recommend this B&B! I spent here 3 days with my partner in April and we were very happy with our visit! The owners were very welcoming, breakfast handmade and tasty. Our room was cleaned very thoroughly every day. Big plus that there was a free parking. Bed was comfortable and big, the room was quiet. Location was good, however it required a bit of walking up the mountain, but there is a bus station close by which would make it easier to commute. There was a restaurant owned by the same owners and a few other restaurants near the location. Scala is a small town but there was a bigger one down the mountain - Ravello. A big plus of staying in Scala are really breathtaking views!

The host, Walter, was so accommodating and kind. He recommended an excellent walk for us to do, which we throughly enjoyed. It was the most memorable part of our trip. The room was exceptionally clean and cosy. Underneath the property, was an incredible pizzeria with wonderful staff. After eating many pizzas across Italy, we are pleased to say that this was one of the best pizza’s we have eaten here. Not to mention the delicious house wine and dessert. Thank you!

I booked this B&b because of 2 reasons-1 it had a parking option 2- the restaurant at the site. parking was available directly at the property- but it is only because it is off season - we were the only customers, I don’t know where suppose to be parking in the summer time when there are so many people coming to amalfi coast ) restaurant is not working off season unfortunately, but we had good breakfast made for us.

restaurant not working In the winter and it was missing from ten descriptions- we came late and had no other option for the diner - most of the places are closed for winter ) nearest food is amalfi - 25 minutes drive and expensive parking even In winter it cost 6€ an hour ( if you come without a car - but is the o Lu option because the Walk down from the village and especially up seems for me impossible…

Exceptional

Location, location, location. After visiting 4 other towns on the Amalfi coast, Scala was a refreshing change. I wandered around town, discovered the stairs going down to Amalfi. Scala is not a town that puts on a show for tourists. People work in their terraced gardens, take construction materials down those steps to Amalfi by donkeys. You walk through the winding pedestrian only paths and see people doing hanging out their laundry to dry, carrying their groceries home, real life. Walter, the owner, was very accommodating. He makes a made to order breakfast, talks varos hiking trails.

Definitely keen to return to Il Penguino!!

Super nice hosts that really looked after us and made us feel very welcome and comfortable, went out of their way to be helpful for us and even let us watch them prepare the pizza dough in the morning. The breakfast is really nice and the restaurant next to the hotel is AMAZING! We miss their pizzas already!! We had a great view from our beautiful room and easy to drive across the coast from this base, or a bus stop not far away if you prefer to catch a bus up and down the coast.

Great people! Everyone was super welcoming and attentive. The room was clean and spacious with everything you would need. And the food it’s on another level. Everything was so delicious. It beats every restaurant in Amalfi. I can’t recommend this place more and we would definitely be returning to Il Pinguino.

Best stay at Amalfi coast

Really nice and helpful people :-) rooms are clean and have enough space. We arrived by car and they have their own parking spot, which was great. In the evening, it is really convenient to go downstairs into the pizzeria with a good choice of food. In the Morning we also got there our very good breakfast: fruits, fresh baked cake, tomato, mozzarella, jam, etc. All food was great and we loved our stay at this family.

Buona esperienza

Proprietari cordiali. Dimansioni della stanza e pulizia.Ottima colazione con cappuccino e torte casalinghe. Parcheggio interno (utilissimo soprattutto in relazione alla difficoltà presente in tutta la costiera amalfitana).

Problema di contatto all'arrivo in struttura. Forse conviene chiamare prima per non attendere. Assenza di bidet tradizionale in bagno. Pareti delle stanze piuttosto sottili.

Un piacevole soggiorno

La struttura è in un ottima posizione con vista sul mare; a circa 20 minuti a piedi dal centro di Ravello, poiché situata nel paese sovrastante Scala. C’è un piccolo parcheggio privato a disposizione che è molto comodo considerando i limitati parcheggi in zona e che sono tutti a pagamento. Il proprietario è stato molto gentile e la colazione buona con diversa scelta. Camere pulite e ben tenute.

Mooie B&B voor een mooie prijs. Een aanrader!

Een nette B&B met mooi uitzicht. Kamer was van alles voorzien. Het restaurant onder de B&B was perfect. Wij hebben daar 2 keer gegeten. Het eten was super goed en betaalbaar. Personeel was vriendelijk. Ik las klachten over de douche, deze is inderdaad niet groot maar voor mensen met een normaal postuur is het groot genoeg om fatsoenlijk in te kunnen douchen. Ik las ook klachten over het bed. Deze was inderdaad aan de stevige kant maar daar hebben wij prima geslapen. Op 6 minuten lopen stopt een busje waarmee je naar Amalfi kunt voor 1,50 euro.

De afstand tot Amalfi is groot waardoor je een flink stuk moet rijden met de bus en een stukje moet klimmen (via de trap) om vanuit busstop Scala naar de B&B te gaan. Maargoed dat verschil zie je dan ook wel in de prijs.

Goede locatie midden in Scala met restaurant. Ontbijt was lekker en mensen aardig.

We verbleven hier voor een bruiloft en vroegen om een latere checkout, wat niet mogelijk was. De accommodatie leek vrijwel leeg dus ik vond het wel jammer dat ze niet wat flexibeler waren hierin. Mensen waren aardig maar niet warm, voelde me nou niet persee een gewaardeerde gast. Prijs-kwaliteit vind ik mwah aangezien we voor dezelfde prijs echt in veel comfortabelere kamers hebben overnacht.
