Caravela Beach Resort

Liked the resort overall. Food was exceptional and the staff were very good. A number of good facilities all around the hotel.

The gym is way too small and has very little stuff for a resort of this size. The New wing needs to be renovated...the rooms are really tired and compared to the North and South Wings, this is to a much lower standard. I was told the New Wing renovation was planned early 2027, so hopefully that gets fixed.

Absolutely loved our stay. The resort is beautiful and well maintained. The beach is beautiful . The staff go over and beyond to make the guests feel comfortable. Good breakfast. We would definitely visit again.

The staff was great! Everything was easy to organise. This was especially important as I was travelling with my elderly mum who has some mobility limitations. The access to Varca beach is private to the resort. The pathway was beautiful, and the beach is clean. The beach shack is a beautiful, relaxing spot. Buggy service is available. Food was superb! Both the selection and quality. The architecture is beautiful. Especially the main breakfast area - Lanai. Loved the live music and the impromptu personalised magic show. Staff at the reception area was very helpful with organising private hire cars.

Most spots are only accessible by stairs. It's only an issue if you're traveling with a disabled person.

We stayed for 4 nights and 5 days and had a pleasant overall experience. Since the booking was fully paid in advance, our late-night check-in was smooth and hassle-free. The valet service was efficient, and the location is one of the biggest highlights of this property. It offers a calm beachfront setting away from the crowds, although having your own vehicle is recommended as the resort is a little tucked away. The expansive lawns and golf-course-like pathways leading to the beach are beautiful and well maintained, and the heated pool is a nice addition. The beach itself is clean, easily walkable, and offers activities such as jet skiing, parasailing and boating at an additional cost. Families with children will appreciate the large open spaces, small kids' play area, and overall kid-friendly environment. There is also a convenient shop near the reception selling clothes, footwear and souvenirs.

While the property has charm, it is showing its age and could benefit from significant upgrades. The room felt smaller than expected for the price paid, and the bathroom was not very spacious. The shower design causes water to leak into the walking area, making the bathroom inconvenient to use. The air-conditioning unit also appeared old, and we noticed dust and debris accumulating below the AC vent. Housekeeping was generally good for the first three days, but on the final day our room was not cleaned despite opting for service while away. When we enquired, the explanation provided by the staff was confusing and inconsistent with how housekeeping had been handled on the previous days. Breakfast had a reasonable spread but became repetitive over a longer stay, and the in-room dining food was average. The biggest disappointment was the lack of soundproofing. On our third night, a large family occupying multiple rooms on our corridor created significant noise late into the night. Despite reporting the disturbance, the issue persisted and affected our sleep considerably. For a 5-star resort, better noise control and guest management are expected. Overall, the experience was good because of the location and outdoor spaces, but the rooms, bathrooms, housekeeping consistency and soundproofing need improvement to justify the premium pricing.
