This stylish heritage cottage is located in a quiet no-thru laneway in the trendy west end of Adelaide city. It's the perfect base to explore South Australia and enjoy cultural & sporting events. There are many parks and cafes nearby, and Adelaide Central Markets, Adelaide Oval, the CBD and Adelaide's main attractions are all within walking distance.

Description.

This historical city cottage, with an architecturally designed renovation, has all the character of a heritage city home whilst offering modern style and comfort.

Located in a quiet no-thru laneway, the home is suitable for business and leisure travellers and spacious enough to accommodate families. The house has reverse cycle ducted heating and cooling in all rooms, making it comfortable all year round. There is reliable Wi-Fi and a separate study for guests visiting Adelaide for work.

Although compact, the one-bedroom cottage has been designed to create two living areas and has a fully equipped kitchen, modern bathroom, separate study and outdoor entertaining area.

The front living room, with a charming fireplace, chandelier and TV, is a comfortable place to relax. It also has a sofa bed for an extra guest or children, and there is room for a cot for those travelling with babies. (Not provided.)

The main bedroom is spacious and private and has a comfortable queen-size bed and ceiling fan. The double-glazed bedroom window ensures peace, quiet, and a good night's sleep. Linen and towels are provided for each guest.

The light-filled bathroom comprises a large shower, toilet and a washer/dryer. A hairdryer, body wash, shampoo and conditioner are provided for guest use.

The petite but modern kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, gas hot plates, convection microwave, kettle, toaster, dishwasher and all the necessary cooking and dining equipment.

The open-plan living area has a new 55-inch smart TV enabling guests to stream their favourite applications, a luxurious leather sofa and a dining table for four. Bi-fold doors open onto the covered outdoor entertaining area, perfect for entertaining or enjoying a glass of South Australian wine on a balmy evening.

The cottage is complemented by a separate study at the back, which is an ideal space to work from home.

The Adelaide Central Market is 500m from the cottage, and you will find many cafes, restaurants, and bars on Gouger Street and in the surrounding neighbourhood.

The airport is 6km from the cottage and easily accessible by taxi, über or public transport (bus).

The Good • The property was exceptional, spotlessly, clean and tidy. • Great location, about 1.5 km from the city’s lively areas, easy to walk. • Honest and pleasant communication with the host. The Mix • House rules exist, though they didn’t affect me as I didn’t cook or do laundry. • The bedroom and bathroom are compact. The bedroom allows limited movement, and the bathroom felt tight. For context, I am about 180 cm and 80 kg, and I found myself bumping into the bathroom a few times. The Bad • Parking was the most challenging aspect. The host provided a permit, which was fair given resident-only restrictions near the house. On weekdays, I managed to park on the main street next to the house with some effort. However, weekends were difficult — on Friday and Saturday evenings, I had to circle around several times before eventually finding a spot a few streets away (near the Toyota showroom). If someone plans to return after 5:30 PM, should expect limited or may be no available parking spots. Final Thought I would recommend this property for short stays of two to three nights, particularly if you do not have a car to worry about. For longer stays, housekeeping may be necessary, which is not currently offered.
