The apartment was in a fabulous location. The view from the apartment was stunning. It was indeed just a few metres from the beach, which was at the back of the apartment. On leaving the apartment at the front you only needed to walk down one of two side passage ways to a promenade alongside the beach. The beach is sandy and the sea is made safe from the many passing boats by buoys. You can get to Palau on foot in about 15 minutes along an attractive footpath on the cliff edge. There is a bar and restaurant on the residence Porto Faro complex, but no supermarket. There is a well-stocked supermarket about 15 minutes’ walk away. We didn’t have a car and found it relatively easy to get around, walking to Palau, the supermarket and places to eat and drink and using local buses to go further afield and the ferry to the islands. The apartment is well stocked and has a dishwasher and a washing machine.

Unfortunately, there is no outdoor space, neither a balcony nor patio to sit and admire the beautiful view or to eat. There is no air conditioning, there are, however, fans in every room and we did find these adequate. The mezzanine is not private as it is open to the kitchen and living area. There are many rules and regulations to follow both for the apartment itself and for the Residence Porto Faro, eg not getting sand in the apartment, accurate recycling, emptying bins only at certain times, not leaving anything outside the front of the apartment and not making noise at certain times. We were also asked to sign a contract that we wouldn’t let children, disabled persons or intoxicated persons upstairs. There were hidden costs, which to be fair are listed in the small print. It would, however, be clearer if they were incorporated in the overall cost. These included paying for sheets and towels and a cleaning fee. It also stated that you would be charged if you arrived after a certain time and if you left at the end of your stay earlier than a certain time. We also had to pay a 300-euro deposit, in case of breakages or damage, on arrival as well as the tourist tax. Just make sure you read the small print before you book.

The view to the sea, the beach is wonderful. The apartment is close to the nice city of Palau and is a perfect spot to explore the region and fantastic sea by boat.

in this time of year an aircondition would be helpful. Some furniture are really old - could be refreshed.
