This is an older stone weekend house set amidst the countryside, gardens, and orchards on the slopes of Mount Etna. There are no restaurants or shops in the immediate vicinity; the nearest ones are in Biancavilla, about a 10-minute drive away. There are several similar, inhabited houses nearby, so fortunately, it does not feel completely isolated. The house sits in the middle of its own fenced garden, complete with grapevines and olive trees. A paved path leads from the gate to the house. We stayed in an apartment that occupied about half of the building: a large entrance room serving as a living area, two spacious bedrooms—each with a large, comfortable double bed—and a large, well-equipped kitchen featuring a dining table, gas stove, and refrigerator. The kitchen opened onto a large, paved rear terrace where one could enjoy breakfast or dinner, or simply relax with a glass of wine. From there, you can even see the smoking peak of Mount Etna. It is an ideal choice for anyone seeking peace and an authentic rural experience. However, a car is essential here.

The garden and grounds are fenced and equipped with security cameras, ensuring a sense of safety; however, the rural setting—surrounded by other gardens and distant houses—might feel a bit unsettling to some. The distance to the nearest town with restaurants and shops could also be a drawback for some. Additionally, the house is large, built of stone, and situated on higher ground, which might give it a somewhat cold atmosphere. For us, the only real downside was the loud music a neighbor in a nearby house played late into the night and early in the morning. Another slight challenge—though certainly manageable—was using the bathroom; it is extremely small, yet somehow also manages to fit a toilet inside.

Beautiful surroundings. View on etna and mountains. Very friendly host. I liked the period “1950s” feel of the property. Situated in a small vineyard/olive grove. Very safe for children.
