Hotel Casa Quetzaltenango

Great location. All the staff were warm and helpful. Free water and coffee. Hot shower was good.

Single room was a bit small with thin, wooden wall (can hear next room). Window faced the road so it can be a bit noisy (I imagine other hotels are worse).

Location is perfect, just a short block from the Parque Central. Rooms are spacious, with large comfortable beds with warm blankets, good pillows, and decent linens. It’s also very quiet. I slept soundly for over 14 hours my first night here. There is a small lounge area along the hallway which has a microwave, a water dispenser with hot and cold purified water, and some free coffee making supplies. The front desk staff were all very friendly and helpful. I liked the aesthetic of the hotel: it’s inside a historic house, with original windows and shutters, high ceilings, and various colonial-esque items scattered around. It’s a little gloomy, but not to the point of being annoying.

The bathroom is so tiny it’s hard to get into it. I appreciated having a private bathroom, but not as much as I’d thought I would. Also, I couldn’t figure out how to get hot water in the shower. It did get warmer than freezing, but if you stay here, get the desk person to show you how to use the shower when you arrive.

Great location near prime tourist destinations and the Parque de Centroamerica.
