Fab!

The lodges were perfect for our family of 5 including a 6month old. We were beside the hotel to use all facilities there and yet had so much space. Communal areas for games and the fairy garden etc was fab. Highly recommend to families

The staff did appear inexperienced at times with several mishaps in relation to drinks orders but they apologised and it by no means affected our stay.

Overall we did enjoy our stay but as already mentioned few areas need review

We had breakfast on one morning in the hotel which we paid 18 euros each and we ordered poached eggs and salmon but was asked for additional supplement to be paid???

I felt some outdoor furniture on balcony would have been nice also very little cookware utensils in the kitchen.

The johnstown estate lodges are newly renovated and are fab

Breakfast was exceptional and the bar food, the staff were so so nice , friendly and professional . Games for kids in the lobby and even reading glasses beside the newspapers for use . It's the little things that they have thought of and nothing ses to be a problem to help make your stay better

Stayed in the lodges. Great space for a family and loads of free activities outside to keep kids entertained. Everything you need is in the lodge for a great stay

Actual hotel was excellent for wedding. Food was delicious.

The lodges are 1/2 derelict and ruins the surroundings. My particular lodge was unclean and had mold. Could not sleep due to smell.

Excellent accommodation

Beautiful 2 bedroom lodge, nicely decorated and furnished with everything you would need for a stay. Beds were very comfortable and staff were very friendly. Excellent location and great facilities at the hotel.

The house did get quite warm with the heating off but this was more due to the warm temperatures outside. We just left some windows open slightly overnight and this helped. It would have been nice to have a little seat at the dressing tables in the bedrooms for doing your make up, but other than that it was faultless.

Everything you need for a small family break!

So convenient with a small family! The lodges are well equipped - kitchen has everything you need and loved the extra touch of dishwasher tablets, washing machine pods and washing up liquid! Two good sized rooms and modern bathrooms! Hotel facilities were brilliant, and every staff member we met was so lovely and helpful!

Very minor but our stairs were sooo creaky and loud. With a toddler and a baby sleeping - it was a gamble going up and down the stairs! Found some broken glass on the rug in the living area (while 8 month old was on it) - but I guess that would happen in accommodation. Bed in double room was so hard, but the twin room had mattress toppers which made it much nicer. Didn’t ask for more for the double bed but if we were staying longer I would have. All in all, very minor inconveniences!

Exceptional overall, the grounds, the lodges etc

We especially loved all the outdoor games, for adults and kids, the beauty grounds and the cleanliness of the lodges and hotel overall.

Coffee machine didn’t work at the lodge, kept crushing the pods and didn’t pour out coffee

Great location for families wanting quite within driving distance to Su lin

The lodges were perfect for kids, very spacious but the beds were very luxurious and comfy even the 2 singles. The playground outside our door was so great and a safe space for kids to play.

The doors in the lodges are so heavy and spring shut close very fast. I wish there was an option to stop them as we were constantly watching for little fingers getting caught. Also some items left under a bed fork a previous guest was a bit yuck

Night away with the Girls

We booked a Lodge which was lovely and so comfortable. Lovely bedrooms, kitchen and balcony's. We also had our dinner in the Coachmans Braisseire which was really nice also

Spacious lodges, modern and it had everything you would need for a stay with friends and family.

It was a good location and the hotel is very nice. The lodges are modern and spacious.

The shower was cold one evening. We had to boost the boiler to get hot water and the radiators to come on. Whilst everything was modern, it lacked some 'warmth'.

Great to use the facilities in the hotel. It was warm and clean.

It was old and dated. Fire doors with no stoppers are dangerous with young children and very noisy at night. Check out at 11 is very early.

bed was comfy, spa was amazing (except for the relaxation room which was a bit brown), restaurant was lovely atmosphere

I stayed in a lodge with a colleague for a conference. It was awful- really dated, cold and all the doors were heavy fire doors that closed behind you. I know that seems a weird thing to comment on but if I had been there with my family or a girls trip then we would want to talk while making the dinner or while getting ready to go out and you couldn't do that cos I couldn't get the door to stay open. Lunch and dinner was provided during the conference and at lunchtime there wasn't enough food and the dinner was really really late. They are doing the lodges up at the minute so if you fancy a spa weekend maybe wait for one of those.

Could be better

Lovely territory, SPA and restaurant. No problems with parking. The lodge looks like photos, but you have to be ready that it quite old.

Horrible receptionists, the house were dirty and old. I've been asking about cleaning...but no one came (I guess receptionists just forget about my request). There is nothing really bad that the property is old, BUT it should be clean. It took me two days, a phone call and two visits to reception to finally get my parcel. Honestly, I've never seen so lazy hotel staff :)

Exceptional

The executive Lodge was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. It was nice being located so close to the hotel and being able to use the facilities. Staff in reception, restaurant and spa were so friendly and made our trip. The food and service in Fire and Salt were a highlight. We also enjoyed wonderful spa treatments and can't wait to return again.

Dishwasher didn’t work and fridge kept freezing its contents. No clothes airer despite having a washing machine. Internet worked well downstairs but not upstairs.

It was like coming to a war zone with the lodge next to boarded up and graffiti - house a mess

Where do I start.

The pics speak for themselves. Arrived to a house connected to a Terrance that was boarded up and had graffiti everywhere. We were not warned about this and travelled from scotland for a family vacation. The house inside was like a student accommodation with the wall broken, the catch on the door ripped off, the toilet broken and over flowing and a bedroom cabinet falling so much apart it almost fell in my 2 year old. I was shocked. I was told by reception that it was never advertised as a luxury estate - so not to expect that. Sums up the experience. No apologies, so stranded to find another holiday. Sum up a disgrace!

A shuttle bus to nearby town would be good for those self catering who travelled by taxi or public transport. To buy provisions.

close proximity to amenities

stairs extremely creaky, a little grubby - I felt it was only surface clean. Damp mop in the downstairs bathroom for example - no cleaning material there for washing up - no soap/ sponges, no sweeping brush. the TV had no signal, we used our own Netflix.

Lovely setting, fancy accommodation, wonderful staff, mediocre bar / restaurant.

Hotel staff couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. It was the highlight of the stay.

Bar/restaurant wasn’t a great experience, slow to take drink orders, ordered an item from the menu that really was not good, and when I mentioned it at the end of the meal they said they knew and they were planning to change it. If it’s not good and they know it, remove it.
