Location and size of room

1. It said premium double queen bed but the beds were not enough for 2 adults and 2 kids 2. I initially requested a late checkout and was denied, but i had met someone there who did get late checkout for a reasonable fee, when i requested the late checkout via booking i was told we might be able to handle it during check in but upon arrival it was said the hotel is fully booked, but for someone else they did allow it Overall the staff were really nice and helpful but that last part i can’t comprehend

My wife and I spent a week in Slovenia and Italy, and the 1 night stay at the Intercontinental was the last night, to relax and enjoy the spa area after a week of travelling and exploring various places. It was wonderful. The hotel is beautiful, the room was huge and very comfortable. In the evening we enjoyed a snack at the bar, with its stunning views of Ljubljana. There was a nice atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. Plus I found a cake in the room, courtesy of an initiative taken by the receptionist to celebrate a special day. Truly appreciated.

Not truly the hotel's fault, to be honest, but the spa area becomes very noisy when there are families. Children obviously enjoy being by the pool and trying out saunas and hammams. Perfectly understandable, but that makes it difficult for adults who want to relax in a nice and quiet environment. I still ended up sleeping in one of the comfortable loungers, though, as I was so exhausted! Having said that, the spa area remains open till late, and then it becomes an 'adults only' area. The hotel is not far away from the city centre, which is within walking distance, but we spent our first 3 nights in Ljubljana in another hotel that was much closer to the city centre, so choosing the hotel where you stay depends on your priorities. In our case, it matched our requirements for the last night in Slovenia, so we did a good choice.

Good location, short distance to most interesting destinations in the city

When booking a 5star hotel and being told that we received an upgrade than I do not expect a bed which is already turning in pieces at the head piece, also the view was very limited (view on the hotel on the other side of the street), the sauna/pool area was totally over crowded, people being in the sauna without a towel, nearly any light, not enough rest chairs available
