Kruger Riverside Lodge - No Load-shedding

What a wonderful surprise that was, and a great value for money! I had read about close interactions with wild animals such as zebras and other herbivores, but experiencing it was something else! I actually got to PET a wild zebra standing right outside my bedroom, and that was incredible. Every day, those animals - as well as others like impalas (I hope I got this right), water bucks, warthogs, etc. come visit the lodge to be offered some dried food especially made for them since apparently there isn't much food for them during drier periods of the year. Just amazing to see these gorgeous animals up close! As for the lodge itself, it's a basic one, nicely furnished, adequate room and adequate size, nice and comfortable bathroom, and king size comfortable bed and pillows. Lynette was fantastic, so professional and helpful. We also had interesting conversations with the manager Peter who told us stories about the area. breakfast was good, and dinner was ok. Yes, it could be better as I read in some other comments, but it was satisfying enough. You must go on walks outside the lodge in the area too, and enjoy the Kruger Crocodile River a few steps away facing the lodge, separated only by a fence with a couple of holes I must add, that only make the experience so much more thrilling! Crocodile Bridge Gate is very close - about 25-20 minutes away - and compared to Malalene Gate and Phabeni Gate, it is the best in terms of the variety and quantity of animals to see in that southern Kruger area. We got to go on a full day game drive with Bertie, and it was a wonderful day. We enjoyed the conversations and got to see many cool animals, Bertie having tried his best not to disappoint us! We most definitely recommend this small cozy lodge and hope to return very soon!
