Tagungshaus Himmelspforten - Self Check-In

Dit rustige klooster / hotel beviel ons prima. De kamers zijn wat basic, maar dat weet je tevoren bij dit soort locaties. Tegelijkertijd geeft het een bepaalde (spirituele) beleving. Vanuit het klooster zijn we, parallel aan de Main, naar het centrum van Wurzburg gelopen. Is prima te doen. Met de fiets wel aantrekkelijker. Het ontbijt was uitstekend verzorgd met allemaal lokale streekproducten.

Het was meer dan ik verwachtte. Het is een Christelijke Retraite/Conferentie hotel en ik verwachtte simpeler en kleinere kamers. Maar ze waren ruim, schoon en de bedden waren comfortabel. Er was geen tv maar dat is ok en was ook verwacht. Ontbijt was goed dus uitstekend.

De locatie was minder dicht bij de stad dan ik dacht maar mog steeds hoed te doen als je goed de kaart leest 😀. Er is een lange route langs de weg en een kortere door de wijk.

Soweit alles in Ordnung, Frühstück gut, einfache, aber ordentliche Zimmer (aufgrund der hohen Außentemperaturen war allerdings auch das Zimmer ziemlich aufgeheizt.)

Für die doch sehr einfachen Zimmer und die Lage deutlich außerhalb des Innenstadtbereichs (zu Fuß rund 30 Minuten) fand ich den Preis eindeutig zu hoch. Die Anzahl der vorhandenen Parkplätze auf dem Gelände lässt ebenfalls zu wünschen übrig. Ich hatte Glück, noch den letzten zu bekommen, ein Bekannter von mir musste ein gutes Stück entfernt in einer Seitenstraße parken.

This is located in a former monastery and the cloister is the primary feature. The grounds in front of the hotel are pretty. Parking available. Very Quiet. The bathrooms in the rooms are very nice and several WC's located throughout the property (a rarity in Germany).

The entrance to the building is sterile looking and totally uninviting. Rooms are super basic. Although a former monastery used for religious retreats and such, this is a hotel and does not need to be so basic. The breakfast was nothing to write home about. Only a few pieces of meat and cheese available. No boiled eggs even though the container was sitting empty. Only one type of bread and then only a few rolls at that. Could not drink the hot chocolate. The self service machine topped off the hot chocolate with coffee. The stay was okay but would not stay again. Just not impressed.
