Magical winter stay with aurora views and a stellar host

Get ready to fall in love with this place. The location is perfect - private and secluded, yet not remote. The chalet has private access to the lake, which makes it feel extra special. We arrived during an extremely cold spell (-25 °C), yet the chalet was warm and cozy the entire time. It has everything one could need and more. The fireplace and sauna are simply wonderful on cold winter days and create a true “home away from home” feeling. Henry is a fantastic host - very helpful both before our arrival and throughout our stay. Communication, check-in, and check-out were all seamless and easy. His kindness and friendliness elevates the experience to yet another level. Our children loved playing around the chalet (there are a few sledges to borrow, which we really appreciated). Our biggest hope was to see the northern lights, and they absolutely did not disappoint. Thanks to the location away from the city, we were able to watch a magnificent aurora display right in front of the chalet and on the frozen lake just a few steps away. Everything felt like a dream come true. We would definitely love to come back. If you’re looking to book an authentic, non-touristy place, look no further - you’ll love Pahtaja and you'll love Lapland.

We didn’t want to leave !

This chalet and the grounds surrounding it are what dreams are made of. The pictures don’t do it justice in the slightest. It’s so cosy and has such a homely feel you can tell that Henry and his family have put alot of love into making this extra special and thought of every little detail to make for a comfortable and hassle free stay. Our kids said the beds were more comfy than their own back home! We came after Jan but were delighted to see the lights were still up so with the snow it still gave off a Christmassy vibe which we loved. The scenery around the frozen river from the jetty is simply breathtaking and though you are not remote it really feels like you are. We were really impressed with what Rovaniemi had to offer and Henry was very responsive and supportive from the point of booking and throughout our stay. Henry is a true gent and my kids said they were sad to say goodbye to this beautiful country and also to Henry.

Superb stay. Great sauna, great hosts, car is advised.

Lovely little place to stay. Privacy for your family. Kids enjoyed the sledges. Sauna was fantastic. House had everything we needed. Hosts were absolutely fantastic. Truly was superb. Would love to come back some time in the summer to explore summer in Lapland.

Sofa bed could do with a thicker mattress topper. It was still manageable as we ended up putting lighter people on it.

An outstanding property and location that provided for a truly authentic experience

The property is in an area of incredible natural beauty, it’s very scenic and private too. It had everything we needed for our stay. The host Henry could not have been more helpful or hospitable, he provided us with incredible support both before we reached Finland and during our stay. I can’t recommend this property more highly if you are looking for an authentic Lapland holiday.

Exceptional

The experience was exceptional. The chalet had a magical and cozy ambiance, making it the perfect place for a family to unwind. Despite being situated only 20 minutes away from the city and next to the main road, it was a quiet retreat. The chalet got everything you need during the stay. The cleanliness of the chalet was impeccable, and the wooden fireplace was the highlight of the stay. The chalet overlooked a serene lake, adding to its natural charm. The pictures on booking.com didn't do justice to the actual beauty of the place. I will definitely have to checkout this place again in summer as well.

Nothing specific. We only stayed for a day, so not sure about the local attractions to things to checkout. The bedroom has twin beds, as stated in the description. It would have been better if it was double bed.

It was cosy and warm. It was well equipped. It is in a beautiful location and private. The host was very helpful and friendly. Driveway is fun for sledging and building snowmen.

We had an amazing stay in the cabin during our ‘once in a lifetime trip’. it was everything we wished for.

This was a picture perfect Log cabin, exactly what we wanted.. The location was also great for us, and indeed we were fortunate to see the Northern lights streaming above the cabin on our second night. The cabin was warm and had everything we needed especially including the fire which had dry wood stacked and ready to go. the fire was so nice and heated up the cabin really quickly. As we were arriving late we asked our hosts to provide some essential supplies which they kindly did. There were also 2 plastic sledges which the kids enjoyed using. We arrived too late to meet our host but he answered all our questions quickly via WhatsApp.

Nothing wrong with the property at all but you do need to read the ‘Booking.com’ notes on getting to the property and on how to start the fire.

Es handelt sich um ein sehr schönes mitten in der Natur gelegenes Haus, in dem alles vorhanden ist, was man für einen entspannten Urlaub braucht. Der Gastgeber ist sehr nett und macht alles möglich, um einen angenehmen Aufenthalt zu gewährleisten.

Une cabane au bord du lac comme on en rêve enfants

L’emplacement dans la forêt au bord du lac est top! La maison est très propre et bien équipée. Une vue et des couchers de soleil inoubliables. Notre hôte a été très accueillant et disponible, nous avons eu toute les informations et conseils nécessaires à notre séjour. Je recommande sans hésitation.

Le chalet est magnifique, isolé et au calme, parfait pour se ressourcer, tout en étant à seulement 20 minutes du centre de Rovaniemi. L’ambiance est cocooning, on s’y sent tout de suite bien. Henry est un hôte très gentil, réactif par message et toujours disponible pour répondre aux questions ou demandes. Il nous a même laissé des petites gourmandises à notre arrivée, une attention très appréciée. Nous avons adoré ce séjour et reviendrons avec plaisir. Nous le recommanderons aussi sans hésiter à nos amis. Un voyage incroyable dans un lieu magnifique !
