The location was easy for me to visit family, close to subway and not far walking, in an interesting neighborhood of brownstone buildings. The staff was friendly and I enjoyed talking with the proprieter. (I even was able to practice my French.) The book collection is impressive. It was clean and attractively decorated. The check-in and systerm of keys was arranged and explained well. I appreciated the prompt and friendly messages online.
My room was very small, but it was clean and fine for my 2-night stay. Being a guest house, the bathroom was down the hall, but I didn't need to share and it was spotless.

Immaculately clean, privet bathroom, quiet, access to a kitchen and drinking water. Non-official atmosphere. Simplicity of interactions. No shoes needed to walk inside the building.
A/C doesn't hold the set temperature. Mattresses are worn to the springs or bad quality. Small room. Steep and small stairsteps. Water pressure and temperature may not be proper from time to time.

Very clean with a good location.
Very small room with no television. It had a shared kitchen and the bathroom, not shared in fairness, was located on the landing
I would have expected more for my 1 night stay.
