Apartment Drei Tannen by Interhome

Our stay was amazing. The views were stunning and the apartment was very clean and cozy. We loved everything about our stay in the apartment.

Everything! This apartment (really a flat) could not have been more perfect for a two week stay in Wengen. The pictures show it all. It has views and sunlight from three sides, a spacious dining and living room, a sunny master bedroom with Jungfrau and moon views, and a sunlit second bedroom. On top of all that, a deck on two sides with a table and chairs and the best view of the mountains, the Lauterbrunnen Valley, and the Schultz waterfall, where on warm sunny days we enjoyed breakfasts and/or sunsets (wine and cheese, watching the alpenglow). They call it the first floor, but we had all of what we call the second floor, between the ground floor, which housed a few quiet local residents, and the top floor, the owners’ place. The owners are there off and on and are quiet and friendly! Thus the views and light! Everything in the kitchen and bathroom worked perfectly. We rented a microwave for 10 Swiss francs. The shower was always hot and the heat worked in all the rooms, which was good during a cold snap. The coverlet on the bed kept us cozy. The staff of Interhome, the property management company, were accessible and kind. They communicated well before we arrived, staffed an office at the train station 5 days/week, and responded kindly to our questions and requests. We felt well taken care of. We were there to hike, so we were glad we had to walk uphill 1/3 of a mile to the town/train station. It was downhill on the way home! The 50 steps up to our flat? More steps for us! Wengen is an ideal location for a hiking vacation apartment. It is a peaceful village, with a range of friendly restaurants, a Coop grocery store that rivals Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s, a train that runs to and from Lauterbrunnen (with access to Murren, Stechelberg, interlaken etc.) until 11:30 pm, and the Männluchen gondola to take you to trailheads. Sorry Rick Steves, but we thought Wengen had more soul than Murren!

The beautiful views and quiet neighborhood.

Everything was well-organised from the booking to the check-out. We particularly appreciated the pre-ordered grocery pack on arrival, which saved us the immediate need to shop after a long day travelling. Queries were promptly dealt with and the apartment was clean, well-equipped and comfortble with a great view from the balcony.

A washing machine would have been a useful addition. The property would not be suitable for those with mobilty issues as access is via a flight of stone steps (this is made clear in the description).
