The church bells at midnight, 12 loud chimes but after that sleeping was fine :)

I liked the location and that’s all.
I did not like the way the owner was constantly walking around the tiny property and getting in everyone’s face. Also did not like how the workers were constantly using the kitchen to cook food and were using the amenities that the guests are to use. Very tiny space with no room to move because of the workaway staff that are basically running the place and very unprofessional. The owner of the place is and old man and always lurking around and whatnot. I was in the outside patio at midnight and he comes and turns off the light and leaves me in the dark. I guess checkout is at 10 am and when he saw me and another guest in the patio at 10:15 am he freaked out and asked us what is wrong with us is this okay to you? He then put his hand on my shoulder and started to push me out and tell me go leave, the “checkout at 10 am.” I really do not recommend this hostel to anybody and would not want anyone to experience what I did.

The location is good, next to the restaurants and the girls that do the work away there were very nice, receptive and helpful
When I first got to the hostel I already felt a weird vibe from the owner. I got there around 11am and was just stopping by to leave my stuff and he was already very rude. I didn’t even said anything and the first thing he told me was that check in was at 15:00 and on top of that, I asked to use the toilet and he didn’t aloud me to use it, he didn’t aloud me to go into the property at all, he just told me the code I should use to enter at the check in time.
When I came back at 15:10, there was no one there to explain me about how the hostel functions, which I don’t really mind.
After that, on my checkout date unfortunately I lost my flight and was very stressed and upset about it I was trying to research for flights and paths I could follow from that and it was 10:20, all my stuff were outside of the room already and me and one more guest that was also checking out, we were on the comum area, when the owner literally kick us out of the hostel. The other wanted to cook a chicken he bought and the owner didn’t let him come inside at all at this point, and I wanted to charge my phone.
I got sick of trying to explain the situation for him, so I just said if I could leave my phone charging and come back later, at the same time to get my other stuff and even that he wouldn’t agree with, due to all the situation I stated crying and it took to this point so he would let me leave my freaking phone charging there.
I’ve done volunteering in hostels and stayed in a lot of other hostels in different places of the world and I NEVER had an experience like this.
Hostels are about sense of community and welcoming environment, which clearly, this owner doesn’t care.
Hostels are about elevating the experience of the guests and making them feel comfortable and welcomed, this does not happens in this place!
He had no empathy and didn’t cherished his guests at all.

Very tranquil and cosy vibe, super clean and at a good location (in the cute centre, close to the harbor and national park Les Calanques) and the staff was super friendly.
I find it quite pricey for such a small room with 6 beds and 1 bathroom (per room of 6 people), but I guess that’s mainly because of the location. It was also very hot (I was there in June); an aircon would be nice during summer.

Cassis is an amazing little town, beautiful hiking routes in every direction, good bars and resturants to come back to in the evening. Au Petit chez Soi makes the perfect home base in the middle of town, very cozy with great guests and staff who are very welcoming, social and full of recommendations.
Church located directly outside bedrooms that rings 2 to 4 times an hour every hour (24/7). this made sleeping uncomfortable; especially first night (bring ear plugs). Bed and bathroom is basic, have to bring your own towel. If you're prepared - no issues.

Lovely terrace, even though it was a bit cold! Very friendly staff - super helpful. Great little hostel, everything you’d expect in one - the kitchen was particularly well equipped, so great for making dinner.

Hands down my favourite place I stayed in France over 3 weeks. The cosy, intimate setting paired with the cool vibe of the town made it easy to get to know other travellers.
Kitchen stove and fridge work fine
Host has minimal presence but can be contacted by phone/app which I didn't mind I thought it added to the interaction between guests. She can give plenty of local advice
Make sure to check your phone for check in instructions. I and another person wandered around outside for a bit.
Wifi is fine
I usually don't get breakfast with accommodation, so nice it was included, but it's probably quite basic relative to other places
Space to hang clothes / towel
Beautiful courtyard filled with plants
Friendly local cats
Mosquitos in the courtyard. They're relentless
'Butchers paper' is not that bad to sleep with.
Church is not that bad

The hostel owners were really friendly and also really helpful on advising the best places in Cassis to explore. The location is perfect; near to the port and other beaches, as well as manageable walking distance to the calanques.

Fantastic set up, from the little touches in the bathroom and beds to make your stay more comfortable, lovely outdoor area to eat. The other people staying there were so friendly, really good vibes. Great location. Would definitely stay here again
Instead of having a proper sheet it was a weird paper disposable one, and it's close to the church which rings the bell every 30 mins. I didn't have a problem with it but some people did

Very cozy interior and hang-out space!! The hostel had everything you can expect and the host was very cute and helpful! Very close to the centre, supermarket, beach and harbour with restaurants
The bedsheets were like paper but it still worked. The breakfast was only baugettes and jam but worked very good as well.
